Heartbreak Cade released

From PWInsider:

World Wrestling Entertainment released former Tag Team champion Lance Cade on Friday. Cade was brought back to the company in October 2009 but was never used on the main roster. He popped up in developmental and waited for a new role to be assigned to him but nothing ever came about. During his previous run, he was last associated with Chris Jericho during Jericho's feud against Cade's trainer Shawn Michaels. We'll have more on the release when we hear it.

Yeah, he was. Got signed for a bit, and I figured they're re-debut him after WrestleMania. His release doesn't shock me in the slightest, though. I was just thinking about it last week. It would not surprise me if Joey Mercury was next. Did Mercury end up re-signing?

I liked Lance Cade enough. I felt he was a big dude with a lot of potential. He may not have seemed like anything special, but I definitely think he was good enough to be something. Even if they had just stuck him back with Chris Jericho and teamed him up with Wade Barrett after NXT.

Although people are bound to joke about it, I think he would make a great signing for TNA. He's got the size and the workrate to survive there. Team him back up with Trevor Murdoch, even. Just don't call Murdoch "Jethro Holiday" again.

I was wondering where he was. I don't follow FCW regularly or anything but I think Cade worked one show there and then sat on his ass with nothing to do for 4 months.

I don't know if Joey Mercury had signed, but he could definitely be next if he did. I see John Morrison turning heel on R-Truth within a few months, and I'd rather it be a solo heel push than bringing back MNM.

There's also Cliff Compton, who only worked two FCW live events but hasn't done anything since yet has supposedly re-signed. Hope they do something with him.

DAMNIT. I enjoyed the Redneck gimmick but once he moved solo and was paired with Jericho I truly began loving this guy. Great look & could easily be given several different roles.

This is shit. I was waiting patiently for the return

As reported earlier, Lance Cade was released again last week by World Wrestling Entertainment. He was re-hired this past October, but was conspicuously never used sans a one-off appearance in developmental.

The reason for his prolonged absence from both television as well as developmental was because he had asked to enter a rehabilitation facility after going through withdrawal symptoms from pain medication and couldn't sleep, which resulted in the former tag team champion being hooked on sleeping pills. He said in an interview last week with PWInsider.com that Umaga — who was his friend — had passed away and he didn't want something unfortunate to happen to himself as well due to his addiction to pills.

Cade completed twenty-eight days of rehab and three weeks before WrestleMania, talked to his mentor, Shawn Michaels. During the very same interview, he claimed HBK told him "he's done" and added that if WWE ever brings him back, he'll never be a top guy.

During the interview, Cade expressed his displeasure with being let by WWE as he couldn't understand why they would fire him for asking to go to rehab considering that everyone else is given an ultimatum to take up rehabilitation assistance or have their contract terminated. He felt he was doing the right thing by addressing the issue and asking to enter rehab, especially considering that his ongoing pill problems are as a result of something that occurred inside their ring. He then said he doesn't want to be part of a company that says they want to help wrestlers with their issues, but then turn their backs on them when they ask for help. He also feels it sends a bad message to the wrestlers in the locker room that if they get injured and take time off, they'll lose their spot. Or, if they have issues medication and ask for help, they'll be fired.

Additionally, Cade implied during the interview that there are top guys doing stuff much worse than he had done, saying WWE's drug testing policy "doesn't apply to everyone."

Cade was previously released from WWE on October 14, 2008. Jim Ross later stated on his official website that "he made a major league mistake while utilizing bad judgment" and that it was instrumental to his departure. J.R. also made reference to Cade having a seizure on a plane and needing emergency medical care.
