Luther Reigns in Rehab / Had A Stroke

According to NY Post:

Quote:
Yet another Vince and Linda McMahon ex-performer has fallen hard and young.

Matthew Wiese, a WWE star as Luther Reigns, is in an Arizona rehab facility after a stroke that has been attributed to barbiturate and steroid abuse. It's the same old pro wrestling story, only this time someone lived to tell it.

"We wrestled damn near every night," Wiese, his speech impaired, slowly told the Arizona Republic, "We were beat to hell. We needed pain pills to do our job." Weise is 36.

The McMahons should title their next Wrestlemania, "Get 'Em While They Last!"

Not trying to downplay this, but how long was Luther Reigns even in the WWE for? I barely remember him, I think it was maybe 2 years tops? The fact is, this guy has been wrestling outside of WWE longer than he has been inside WWE, so I don't see how this is Vince's fault.

Reigns was in WWE from April 2004 until May 11, 2005. He's perhaps known best for his work as an "Assistant" to then SD! G.M. Angle, and later, with the addition of Mark Jindrak to Angle's team (after Angle had become a part of the main SD! roster again as just a wrestler), as a member of that 3-man stable.

Love that the Post wants to show this sob story and blame the McMahons, but then closes the blurb with a joke. Classy publication from top to bottom.

He had a pretty good couple months in late-04/early-05. Even faced Taker at No Way Out

Was that the same No Way Out with the shitty-ass Barbed Wire Steel Cage match between J.B.L. and Show for the WWE Championship? Not that it matters, but anyways...

Yup, same No Way Out (2005). Also had Angle vs Cena with the winner challenging for the title at Wrestlemania 21. I think a lot of people expected HBK to do a run-in during that match ala Goldberg coming in during the Lesnar/Eddie match at NWO 2004, but he didn't. I remember it being a decent PPV minus the Steel Cage match

So he was in the WWE for barely a year? Five years ago?

Look, I'm all for the "WWE is making people do steroids" train, but come the fuck on. This is just a little bit much. Blame the industry itself all you want, but I don't think we can entirely blame Vince's company exclusively in this scenario.

You dont have to say he was class just because he had a stroke. I still think Eddie Guerrero was shit even though everyone else is bumming him.

Eddie made a change in his life for the better...sure it took some time, but he still made a very difficult decision to try and become a better person. The least anyone can do in the case of Eddie is to respect his memory whether or not you liked the guy.

Also, in times where people are suffering/possibly dying it's quite rude and disrespectful to talk trash about them, again despite what your personal opinion/bias of someone may be.

Gotta give you credit though, you're definitely "edgy" and "controversial"
