do you have a seperate soundcard or is it onboard sound?

or if you dont know that,

are your soundports going vertically or horizontally?

If vertical there onboard sound, eg, there on your motherboard, look for Realtek AC-97 drivers, there pretty much default if your MB is new enough, if not, your screwed? :S or just go to the place u bought your pc from, god you can handle 2 days of watching porn without sound cant you?

if its onboard note the model of your motherboard, usually printed in large letters on there somewhere, do a Google on the model and find the manufacturer, then go to their website and look up your model and OS and the drivers should be listed. If you can’t find any model number on your motherboard then it will have to be identified by the bios. www.motherboard.org should sort you out in that department.

If it’s a separate card then it should also be printed on the card somewhere. If it isn’t clearly marked then you might have to look up the FCC code printed on the PCB. That can be a pain in he butt sometimes.
