Who would you bring back, if you could?

If you could pick any number of people (alive or deceased) to bring back to the WWE, people who were there but no longer are, who would they be and WHY?

One person who comes to my mind is one of the greatest managers and best speakers in wrestling history, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. Unfortunately, as most of you know, his health is failing these days, but wouldn't it be great if he were still in good health and able to commentate? Without a doubt, he was one of the best heel personalities the WWF/E ever had, and his HOF speech almost moved me to tears.

So, who would YOU bring back?

Several months ago now, Hogan and Bischoff were on Bubba the Love Sponge's radio show. They were asked about Lacey Von Erich, and Hogan said she "can't work," as if Hogan should be criticizing anyone else's work ability.

Anyway yeah, Kerry was very impressive, especially in WCCW where he was center stage and warring with the Freebirds. And the emotion and pagentry of his match against Flair in that company was AMAZING. At the time there was nothing like it.

My earliest memory of Kerry was a Matt Brock piece from PWI in 88. It basically talked up how hard Kerry worked in the gym, his clean living lifestyle, "my-body-is-a-temple" - your basic 80s babyface feature. I also remember the graphic shots they ran after his Superclash 88 match with Lawler, which were shocking to me as a 9-yr old WWF fan.

I also loved his short run in the WWF, especially his feud with Mr Perfect, and always wondered if he would have been a WWF main eventer if he had been there in 91-93, after the likes of Hogan, Warrior and Savage had left the scene. Assuming he was clean, would he have been in line for the push they gave to Bret, or was he too old and broken down by 92?

A story of his death ran in the local TV Guide and I was shocked to hear the circumstances of his final months - probably why that PWI article has always stayed in my mind long after I threw the mag out. It was the first (sadly not the last) time where a death would expose me to the darker sides of being a top pro wrestler. A tragic ending to the life of a great man and great wrestler.

How many were spotfests? Does he know anything about ring psychology? Kurt is a good talent, sure, and he's gold on the mic, but several of his matches have been hugely overrated.

Kurt Angle v. The Undertaker
Kurt Angle v. Rey Mysterio
Kurt Angle v. Chris Benoit
Kurt Angle v. Shawn Michaels

Please look further into any of those confrontations and then say he doesn't understand ring psychology. I didn't even mention the Shane McMahon match because you'd call it a spotfest...which is sort of was, but that was what Shane always did. I doubt Kurt needed it that way. Regardless, that match was still great.

THIS was the original post about any of this. I was just responding accordingly.

It's fine if you don't like Kurt Angle for some reason, but to call him a spot monkey who doesn't understand ring psychology is pretty outrageous.

I regard him as one of the best Intercontinental Champions of all time, and I think "Mr. Perfect" is one of the best characters in wrestling history.

I saved it to my computer, and cleaned it up to make it more readable (he's only a few levels above Eugene in the typing level department), and am posting it below, for those of you who haven't seen it:

I am in love with each and every one of you. Well, except for one of you. See if you can guess which one that is.

And with that being said, I woke up just about 1 hour ago not feeling worth a turd's ass. I dont know why. I kinda think that the 24 years of bouncing my stupid ass body around a wrestling ring, and taking 10 foot backdrops on a concrete floor over and over again has taken its toll. I'm starting to feel like what Shawn looks like in the ring.

For those in the know, I dont need to tell you what that means. I can say it surprises me he would stick around when he looks like a 60 year old man doing the 60 year old man Ric Flair upside down bump in the corner.

Now, dont get me wrong, I love Shawn. Not like Bret does, if you saw that picture. I mean I have true genuine caring compassionate love for a person who stabbed my ass in the back several times to get ahead, but then made amends for it as he became a better person, a Christian, although he still KNOWINGLY lied his ass off about me in his book.

And the best part is he called my great friend Bobby "BS" Sanford over to make a point of saying, "I hear from your shoot interviews you remember things differently than how I've told them in my shoot interviews. So tell me, because it will go into the book we are writing right now, however you tell me you remember it happened because, to me, it doesnt even matter. So Bobby is YOUR witness when you see it in the book."

I told him not just how I remembered it happening, but exactly word for word how IT DID HAPPEN with best friend Bobby, right there to hear Shawn's disgusted reaction, which was, "Damn it (yes, Christians are allowed to say that in a moment of frustration) MJ, how do you remember more *beep* than me and yet you did more drugs than I did??"

Then he went stomping off like a little kid who didnt get his way. And guess what? How do you think the story went in his book, even with Bobby, called over by Shawn for a witness? Same *beep* lie he told his whole life since that day. What day and event are we speaking of? When he threw his normal Shawn Michaels spoiled brat temper tantrum, and said, "*beep* this MJ, call Vince and tell him we quit," which all was over us getting paid less than everyone else at a commercial shoot. I told Shawn, "Make sure you mean this before I do it, because I'll damn sure do it." His reply? "Oh *beep* yes, do it, do it, *beep* them lets quit." So no biggie. MJ went over and put in the word we quit. But then 4 hours later I got a call from Vince MacMahon, saying if I wanted to stay on and wrestle singles, I was welcomed.

In which I said I was not going to go behind Shawn's back like that and betray him. Which Vince said, "Well that's funny, Shawn just called me and said he had nothing to do with what you called and said, and he was staying." I called Shawn in disbelief only to hear him say, "MJ, on the flight home I had time to think about it. Your house is paid off, I still gotta make payments, you are single, I am married. I mean really, dude, I just cant afford to quit right now." So you left me to be the bad guy. You lied out your ass saying you had nothing to do with it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

N.B. - Shawn has tried to get Marty a job with the WWE several times, and each time Marty has fucked it up for himself. I have no doubt Shawn was a prick back in the day, he's the first to admit it, but it's time for Marty to get over it.

I actually think he was completely underrated, to the point where i saw him relegated to the role of jobber by 1993, after following great feuds such as Santana, Tatanka, Roberts, and a fantastic battle against Shawn Michaels in 1992.

Its a shame for us fans that he probably made greater money in real estate. Had he have made his move to WCW a little earlier, say 1991 or 92, I could seriously see him being world champion in the pre-Hogan era, or at least have had some legendary feuds with Rick Rude or Sting.

Indeed. I remember one of his last few big moments with WWE besides the match with Shawn...it was the first week of January 2006, and he came out of nowhere in a battle royal, I think, to win the then-vacant World Heavyweight Championship.

Kurt Angle has been having the best matches out of anyone in either WWE or TNA. I think he actually gets better every year. Since 2000, he has been a favorite of mine and he deserves his praise because of how great his matches and mic skills are. I would like to see him back in WWE and to be honest this is the year he should be inducted into the Hall of Fame. It's in Atlanta for one thing. I respect where you're coming from and can see where people would say his best days are behind him. I just don't see that.

In answer to the post besides Angle back in WWE:

1.The Rock
2. Ken Shamrock
3. Lita
4. Trish Stratus
5. Victoria
6. Mickie James
7. Bryan Danielson
8. Goldberg

In terms of deceased wrestlers:
1. Owen Hart
2. Mr Perfect
3. British Bulldog
4. Eddie Guerrero
5. Umaga
I'd put Chris Benoit but I was only thinking in terms of wrestling and I would understand where people would get pissed if I put him so I opted not to.

Oh, God no! In fact, I actually wouldn't mind one bit if there were no divas at all in the WWE. A woman's place is in the kitchen.
