So Chavo Guerrero's sort of serious again
The past two weeks on Superstars, Chavo Guerrero has gotten clean victories over JTG, who has cooled down since the initial Cryme Tyme split, but is still relatively over, young, talented and all that. Am I the only one who is really happy that Chavo is getting a bit of a revitalisation?
Will this go anywhere? Is this a thank you to all the years of solid work Chavo has put into the WWE? It seems the guys fluctuates between being a bit of a joke (his initial role in The Alliance with Hugh Morrus, losing the Cruiserweight Title to Jacqueline, the Hornswoggle stuff) to being somewhat of a serious threat (teaming with Eddie, his otherwise dominating run in the Cruiserweight Division, making Rey say "I quit," winning the ECW Title). If I had to guess, the decisions revolving around Chavo are at war between "he's such a good talent" and "he's small and not as good as his uncle." What do you think is the highest Chavo Guerrero can achieve in the WWE at this point? He's 39 years old, still a tremendous worker, getting better on the mic (he's had to with a lot of his stuff being related to silly angles) and now seems to be getting some sort of quasi-push as a serious threat. Can you take Chavo seriously? Can the casual fans? What, if anything, does Chavo need to change to distance himself from his embarrassing run on RAW? Pfft |

He won two matches on Superstars. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

Yeah, until he gets some wins on Smackdown, I won't be holding my breath.
But yeah, Chavo is the goods. I remember way back when Eddie won the world title, he had just come off of a feud with Chavo. One of his first defenses then came against Chavo on Smackdown. I remember thinking not "Hah hah Chavo in a world title match" but "Yeah. Alright. Chavo in a world title match. I can buy him as a legit contender" |

The results on Superstars are pretty pedestrian, usually. The Dudebusters never win, for example. Just like Chavo never used to win. When thrown against random guys, JTG usually comes out on top, too. Paired with the commentary about Chavo's new "attitude," I don't think this is just crap thrown at a wall. I think there are some plans to wash off the "comedy" character Chavo has picked up during his time on RAW.

The absolute highest he'll get before he retires is a token run with a second tier title. That, or if the Vicky/Dolph angle continues, having them team and maybe winning the tag straps? Otherwise though, I can't see him being built up much more than 'no longer a guy why gets shitcanned by a midget.'

I love this thread, BUT chavo is like Mini-Kane... I hate seeing incredible jobbers who have the potential to be champions go by the way side... But it's probably never going to happen for My man Chavo...

He will become the next Finlay..... The agent who is used on House Shows to put over younger talent..... he may be a few years away from this, so they might be giving him one last hurrah for the hell of it......

I'm so fucking sick of this. Chavo is getting paid close to 6 figures to get knocked out by a midget wearing inflatable boxing gloves. Poor guy. The only people who bitch are the IWC. I'm sure all the other wrestlers are jealous that Chavo doesn't have to take bumps.
He's not IC or US material, never has been, never will be. Give it a rest. |

However, i've always loved Chavito, from his WCW days to now. I would love to see his get a run with any title, and see him work with some young talent to bring their game up. |

Because people bitch about this here constantly. They act like Chavo is being disrespected. I'm sure Chavo doesn't really care.

He's not being disrespected. Just because his brother died doesn't mean he should be pushed. He's lucky he even has a job.

I've always liked Chavo, and really hoped his fued with Chris Benoit in 2006 would have elevated him into the main event.
It didn't, and at this point it doesn't really matter anymore. On a related note, I was thinking about this at work last night, but Chavo is the last member of the Alliance/WCW to still have a job. Pretty crazy when you think about it. Who'd have thought back in WCW that Chavo Guerrero Jr/Lietenant Loco would the guy to outlast everyone else? ![]() |

It's a fake championship. Bobby Heenan said it himself in his autobiography "if you think we're in it for anything other than the money, you"re crazy"

Which is why people vie for title runs, right?
Of course it's a fake title. You know, that doesn't change much. |

Personally, I always like Chavo and ______ . I loved his tag work with Eddie, and when he had a "bodyguard" like with Bam Neely and Sgt AWOL/ Major Stash in WCW. I think maybe a solid tag push with somebody like Chris Maters (solid overall wrestler like Chavo) could get him another tag title run before he retires

Chris Maters is a solid worker and a good friend.
I can't see Chavo getting a push out of this but it's nice for him to have some wins on TV after jobbing for the best part of a year. His work with Ziggler has been great and I wouldn't mind seeing him in the IC or Tag Title scene in the near future. |

This is very close to my assessment of Chavo. Except I've always just liked the guy, and can't explain it. While I do agree with the assessment that Eddie Guerrero is by far the better overall talent, I always liked Chavo more when they were in Los Guerreros.
