WWE SmackDown! Taping Results (7/30 & 8/6) *SPOILERS*
*Spoilers* WWE Smackdown Taping Results From Corpus Christi, Texas

WWE SmackDown: (Airing Friday, July 30th)
* Prior to the taping the ring crew places a black carpet in the ring with a casket.

* SmackDown opens with Kane in the middle of the ring with the casket. A video recap from last week is shown with Rey Mysterio earning the number one contendership. Kane says he sits by The Undertaker everyday waiting for him to awake. He said yesterday was the first time he moved his eyes and spoke. Kane says he only said two words; the name of the person who attacked him.

Kane said The Undertaker mumbled Rey Mysterio and anger raged through his body. He said Rey's name hangs in the air like a demon. He then asks why Rey would do it. Kane continues on saying that beating Rey at SummerSlam still wouldn't be enough. Kane says Rey must pay for his sins and experience what The Undertaker endured. The lights go out with Kane still in the ring.

* Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger in a No Disqualification match is announced.

* Christian b. Drew McIntyre
- Christian counters a DDT and gets the win via pinfall.

* Layla vs. Tiffy for the WWE Women's Championship is announced for later tonight.

* Cody Rhodes gave his grooming tips. He was wearing a face mask. He said he's bringing us one step closer to being dashing.

* An Alberto Del Rio video package is shown.

* CM Punk is backstage asking the rest of the SES which one was going to let him down. He smells Serena's breath and tells her thanks for showing up sober. The then complains about Joey Mercury losing his mask and says none of them would be anything without him. He said if they don't actually do something to pack their bags.

* Big Show b. Luke Gallows
- Big Show gets the win via disqualification when he's attacked by SES. After the match CM Punk removes his sling to show that his arm is in good condition.

* WWE Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston b. Dolph Ziggler w/Vickie Guerrero via disqualification.
- Referees ended up having to restrain Kingston who was going crazy.

* Backstage, Jack Swagger says he doesn't have time for stupid questions. Swagger says he's going to beat up Rey, break his arms and throw him in the Gulf of Mexico.

* Vickie Guerrero announced Michelle McCool will replace Layla in a match against Tiffany. The match is still for the WWE Women's Championship.

* WWE Women's Champion Michelle McCool w/Layla b. Tiffany w/Kelly Kelly to retain.
- Layla interfered, allowing McCool to get the win. Teddy Long came out and said there only needs to be one Women's Champion and they can either decide for themselves or he'll decide for them next week. They argue to end the segment.

* Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger in a no-disqualification match ended in no contest
- They battled outside and Mysterio caused Swagger to fall into the water. Kane was outside and chokeslammed Rey into the water.

Dark Match Main Event:

* World Heavyweight Champion Kane b. Big Show in a Steel Cage Match to retain
- After the match, Rey Mysterio's music hit and he came out and fought with Kane. Mysterio ended up teaming with Big Show to take out Kane to end the show.

WWE SmackDown (Airing Friday, August 6th):

* Rey comes out and says he’s true to his fans and starts speaking in Spanish a lot and pretty much kissing up to the fans and saying he didn’t take out the undertaker. Then Drew McIntyre comes out and says asks how Rey could have done such a thing. Drew wants to take out Rey just like he took out Christian last week when he hurt his arm. He challenges Rey to a match later and Rey accepts.

* Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship is announced for later tonight.

* Cody Rhodes beat Matt Hardy with the crossroads

* Backstage, Teddy is demanding that Laycool give up one of the belts, Michelle gives up hers after arguing with Layla but then they argue more and they end up breaking the other belt in half but they seem happy about it.

* Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship.
Vickie introduces Dolph Ziggler out: Ziggler becomes the NEW Intercontinental Champion after some interference from Vickie and then hitting the Zig Zag. Ziggler does a little celebration before Kofi goes bananas yet again and beats up Ziggler bad. Ziggler gets carried to the back.

* The Straight Edge Society vs. Big Show is announced for Summerslam

* Here comes the Straight Edge Society with Mercury, Gallows, Serena and Punk with his bald head. CM Punk shows footage from last week’s beatdown on Big Show. the SES are proud of their handy work and punk asks his SES if they are happy and they say yes. He says don’t be happy and to get on your knees and starts talking about that being happy makes them weak. He gives them a a little pep talk to get ready for their 6 man tag team match.

* MVP, Chris Masters, JTG vs. SES. SES wins after Luke Gallows pins MVP.

* They showed a video on the Ttitantron with Teddy talking with Jack Swagger. Swagger said it’s Teddy’s fault for what’s going on with Kane and losing control. Teddy says he will not be in the triple threat match for the world title in the cage match later tonight and instead gives him the night off. I am not sure if this will be shown on TV, it looks like it was only for fans live since they mentioned the dark main event.

* Main Event: Rey Mysterio vs. Drew McIntrye: Rey Mysterio defeats Drew McIntrye with a rollup win. After the match, out comes Kane. Drew tosses Rey to Kane. Kane has brought a casket to the ring. Rey manages to escape and Rey then says he didn’t take out the Undertaker, it was KANE!. Kane is in the ring just standing for a very long time looking up above to the ceiling. It looks like he was crying or getting mad or something, he didn’t say a word and that’s how it ended.

Hmm..sounds ok I guess. No Matt Hardy/Christian follow up? At least he went over Drew. Dolph/Kofi and Show/Punk look to be progessing pretty well though

I'm not sure who can buy Rey taking out Undertaker unless it involved a gun. Only a matter of time before its Taker/Kane HIAC I guess. The mark in me will love it though lol

So Rey Mysterio is supposedly the "Maggie" of Smackdown now.



I wonder if they are going to start teasing the fact Kane was only going after people he considered a threat to the title (Swagger because he would be harder to beat had he won the title from Rey and now Rey because he wants his title back). Before he only went after Swagger since he "knew" Swagger did it but never said how he knew.

I think they should just drop the vegetative state thing altogether and make it an angle where Taker was getting married to McCool and Kane was jealous of it so he dreamed up the whole vegetative angle as a way of coping.

I'm about half an hour into this weeks episode. Christian vs McIntyre is awesome, probably Drew's best match so far. Does seem like theyve completely dropped the Christian / Hardy angle though.

Would make sense even if its just a temporary thing until Undertaker returns since Smackdown's main event is mostly Big Show and Rey as faces with Kane, Swagger, and Punk being the heels.

Kofi really didn't have much of a "test" main event run on Raw since the Orton-Kofi feud became one sided after the initial 1-2 weeks.

No, Kane took out Undertaker. Kane is just blaming it on Rey. Also, if you're living in a kayfabe world, Rey Mysterio does the impossible. Yes, it is cheesy, but it does make sense what Kane is saying. Rey had the most to gain. He even says that Rey did not do it alone, doesn't he? Kane is a psycho, he's just blindly accusing Rey.

Also, I don't think it says that Swagger can't swim in the water. It's just a symbolic thing. Swagger wanted to toss Rey into the Gulf of Mexico just to prove he could do it. Rey reversed it as a way of saying "Nah, I'm gonna do that to you, actually." Kane putting Mysterio in is just a little extra detail.
