Greatest Era #1 - Chris Jericho

New thread concept. Basically, discuss what you believe was this wrestler's, tag team's, stable's or company's best era was. Whether it was a specific gimmick, a time period or a combination of the both. Feel free to post pictures and videos from said era.

First up:

CHRIS JERICHO

Good idea. I was always thinking of doing this same thing, but never got around to it. It would of just been one thread anyway listing a bunch of wrestlers.

Anyway, Jericho's best era was when he beat Rock and Stone Cold in one night to become the Undisputed Champion. I thought he was amazing during that time. Unfortunately, they had him become a bitch to Steph right after. I believe this was end of 2001-2002

Kinda liked his build up and debut. Was fucking awesome back then. Everything was perfect. One of the last big debuts before the inet took fully over and we knew everything a week before.

Guess it helps if there is competition somewhere near the same level too.

or

So yeah. Either his WCW stuff, or his current heel run (especially his initial feud with HBK). I would have said the Undisputed Champion run, but he was incredibly awesome only for a small period of time before he was McMahon'd/HHH'd.

I think his best work was either his original heel run in WCW, or his current one. But I think his face run and rise to the main event in 2000-2001 was probably the most exciting time in his career.
Chris Jericho was great in WCW because of Chris Jericho, but it never went anywhere. In WWF he was allowed to rise and the crowd was encouraged to get behind it.

This thread AKA The Unofficial Chris Jericho Appreciation Thread

Another great era was when Jericho started getting the EPIC BEARD and had the alliance with Christian, and subsequently later face turn and feud.

From the time he started feuding with Kurt Angle and up shortly after he lost the Undisputed Championship to Triple H at WM18 that was I feel was the pinnacle of his carreer a lot less stale then he is now.

My favorite Chris Jericho was either when he made up names for everyone in WCW and feuded with Dean Malenko or around the time of his WWE debut.

Those 2 versions go pretty hand in hand.

I am going with 2001 as my favorite time period for Chris Jericho. He was in the prime of his career having phenomenal matches and captured the Undisputed Championships. Plus, I like face Chris Jericho more. The heel Chris Jericho I did like is 1998 WCW era. That is my second favorite time period for him as he had amazing matches revolving around the Cruiserweight title and great feuds with Dean Malenko and Juventud Guerrera. We also noticed that he wasn't just a good wrestler but one of the most charismatic wrestlers of all time.

Chris Jericho's push during the Invasion angle was one of the only good things going in WWE at the time, so that's the era I'm going with. The honorable mention should go to his heel run from 2008-now.

Really enjoying this current heel run (especially the turn during the Highlight Reel w/ HBK), retroactively enjoyed his days as WCW Cruiserweight champion (didn't see it when it was actually happening), but the feud against HHH/Stephanie was him at his absolute best.

I loved his face run in 2000, and also his current character. I loved how his "heel turn" in 2008 wasn't just "Ok I'm gonna go to the ring and give a Codebreaker to Shawn Michaels and cut a promo on how the fans turned on me".

Instead, it was this slow turn that made perfect sense. The story of HBK lying about his knee, still being loved, and yet Jericho being boo'd for being a honest man. I dunno, the whole story/feud was so great, and it made perfect sense and built a strong heel Chris Jericho.

He's been consistently entertaining throughout his career and i'm finding it hard to choose between his 2000/2001 run and the current heel run. His feud with HBK was amazing so I think i'll go with that.

My favourite era of Jericho's is his heel run in WCW in 1998-1999 or so. I don't know if I can call it his best era because he was a midcarder. If not that, then I'd go with his heel run in 2008 and I think that was the strongest he has ever booked in his career.

His Undisputed title run was a flop. He was one of the worst booked champions ever, probably the worst up to that point. Rey Mysterio took over that title though. Jericho needed 2-3 guys to interfere in his title matches (Booker T, Big Boss Man, nWo, etc), and had to cheat to beat low card guys like Maven and Tazz. And then he Stephanie McMahon's bitch in her feud with HHH. HHH vs. Stephanie was the main event of WrestleMania 18 with Jericho wrestling for her.
