Interesting segment from Impact

I didnt see this segment from Impact, like most people here after the Beer Money vs MCMG match I went to sleep. TNA already did the main eventers vs the young wresters before, but actually looks like a better take on the idea. One "Wresting Rumor" I heard was that back when Russo took over WCW in lete 99/ early 2000, he had this idea that Hogan woud put over Jarrett/ Billy Kidman, Nash would put over Mike Awsome, and Flair would do the same for a young wrestler. The story goes Nash used his spot as booker to squash any kind of Awsome push, and Flair used his backstage politics to not have to put anyone over (cant even remember the guys name anymore). As for Hogan, we all know what happen with him and Russo/ Jarrett. Coud this finally be the point where we could see guys like Nash, Sting, Flair finally end there careers in wrestling, and stop suprise returns 10 years too late?

I could definitely see Sting hanging it up at the end of this year. Nash, however, will do anything for money so I could see him hanging around as long as he's getting decent paychecks to perform his six moves on an X-division guy. :-( As much as name value means to TNA, some of this value is dwindling with age I believe and many of the "legends" should pass the torch and call it a day.

I didn't enjoy this segment except for Hogan telling Nash that they need to step aside. I hope that there is an end to the older guys like Nash just picking up an easy paycheck and not giving a shit. I also liked how Hogan's shoes matched his shirt. If there was no hogan reference I'd consider buying them. This seems like the only cluster fuck though since there's no defined face/heel. Then again I did see Flair's underwears... but it was still a fun match.

I agree with Jimmy I thought this segment sucked because a) the fight itself looked like it was in slo-mo was Nash's super-sensitive quads and Hogan's artificial back/hip. and b) because there have been similar angles and never do Hogan and Nash step aside when there is money to be made. I looked at it as it being build up for another feud between the geriatrics to get another payday. :-(

OTOH, that made the entire segment hilarious.

"You need to step aside, brother! It's the dawn of a new era, brother! Our time has passed, brother!"

Then all the old guys pile into the ring and beat the shit out of each other.

Sadly, it's not the first time they made that speech.

And it most likely won't be the last.

Amazingly, TNA seems perfectly in tune with what people want. They just then proceed to do the opposite. That segment was a perfect example.

I can see the angle being written with that direction...but I won't believe it until I don't see either of them in a ring for years upon years.

I won't believe it until they're dead, honestly. No disrespect intended in this case, it's just that I could see them coming back after a long absence just because...Well, who are we talking about?

I'd be shocked if this led to any actual retirements. Not that it'd be bad if it did, and they actually moved on.

I totally agree with the dead comment, especially in Hogan's case. I do think however after watching Nash move around that his quads will eventually pop and roll up his legs preventing him from coming back. They'll continue to use this angle every few years in hopes that someone will actually believe them. It didn't pop ratings before, and it won't do it now. If I wanted to see it I'd drive up the street and pick a fight with some elderlies at the old folks home.

I just like the fact that Hogan is sitting there talking about letting the "new guns" take over in a segment that featured four of the oldest wrestlers in the world getting into a fight, so as to push an angle that wont feature any younger wrestlers. Just awesome.

I think the angle is about Hogan who has been going since the 70's who truly needs to hang it up versus guys like Sting and Nash who started in the 80's but still have passion and still have things to offer. Jarrett really falls into group B but I think he will join with Hogan to face Sting and Nash at Bound For Glory.

I think that's something that a company could benefit from. Not that TNA is actually going to do it, but if each older guy found one or two guys they really wanted to put over, and made it their mission to pass the torch to them.

Kurt Angle winning the TNA World Heavyweight Championship from Rob Van Dam is a very likely occurance. From there, Angle will be once again "the top guy" and when he drops off the TNA Title, he could really make a youngster. If everyone of the older guys who can still somewhat go did that, then professional wrestling would have its next set of stars set.
