Arrow HEY CANADA, GET OVER IT!!! (Spoiler)

In this week's Raw thread, "RGWhat316" said, "And finally, will the canucks ever let it go???? In 1997, Bret Hart got screwed out of his championship because he was leaving to go to the rival company, and in 2004, the other guy involved, Shawn Michaels, still gets the biggest heat of the night because of the incident. I mean come on already."

That's absolutely right. Now, before I proceed, let me first say that I love Canada. I visited there briefly about 12 years ago, and had a blast. It's a beautiful country, and I may even hope to live there someday.

Also, the whole "Montreal incident" was really a shame. Both sides were wrong, in my opinion, but that isn't the point. The point is, it happened 7 years ago. Worse things have happened, and it's time to move on.

Tonight, in the main event at Raw, 4 excellent workers (well okay, Batista's not excellent) were in a great match. It was a Tag Team Title match, and these guys were working hard. They were trying to make us happy dammit. And what's the response? "We Want Bret! We Want Bret!"

Please folks, enough already. Enough. Stop. You Want Bret. We get it. McMahon gets it too. And so does Bret. But for a variety of reasons, you can't have him right now. In fact, whether or not we like it, we might not ever seen him in a ring again.

Stop dwelling on the past. It isn't healthy. Try to enjoy what we have now. It isn't really that bad. I love you Canada, but get over it.

Oh c'mon! It's not like the workers tried to ignore it last night or anything, HBK put Chris in the freaking Sharpshooter! They wanted this.

I love you Bret.

But the point isn't the workers. The point is, this happened 7 years ago. It's time (for the fans and the company) to finally move on.

The workers reenacted the ****ing scene, you dipshit. They wanted Michaels to get heat, they wanted the Bret chants, and they ****ing got it.

I was LIVE at RAW, and I will say that HBK didn't get much heat at all.

I was the one who STARTED the chants, and most of the people were on their feet for HBK. Plus HBK admited he wasn't the most popular guy, so he kinda asked for it.

I expect A LOT more heat in this match, and I was dissapointed by the heat that was given.

Telling fans of anything to "get over it"(sports, especially) is an exercise in futility. Especially good fans because, obviously, its their passion that makes them good.

And seven years isn't really that long in "fan years." Go find a BoSox fan and ask them about the '86 World Series. Or me...I'm still unable to have a coherent discussion about the '94 NFC Title Game when that RAT BASTARD DEION SANDERS GOT A BULLSHIT NO-CALL ****ING COWBOY HATING PIECEOFSHITREFEREESMICHAEL IRVIN ALL ALONE FOR THE ...

Anyways...go Canada. Love those fans.

Dont be dumb, the fans aren't to blame, you think Hebner doing a run-in at Backlash while HBK has Benoit in the Sharpshooter was booked by the fans?

Last time in Montreal Vince booked an angle with Shawn delaing with the whole Survivor Series incident. My feeling is that if the WWE wouldn't have based the last 7 years of business around the Montreal incident the fans would've forgotten by now.

Wow, that is pretty crazy. TV must make it seem louder or something (which is like the opposite of what you'd think) because I heard them giving Michaels a shitload of heat. He even had to pause in his promo like twice to suck it up.

Bottom line, it was a while ago, but there's no need to get pissed at people who still get pissed at it.

You know, I totally believe that, too. When I was watching Raw last night, I noticed that the "You screwed Bret" chants were deafening. But when you looked at the crowd, it seemed like the majority of them were waving their hands and generally cheering on HBK. So I remember thinking, "Are those 'You screwed Bret' chants from the nosebleed seats or what?"

I was considering making this topic myself but since I havent been on since last night it's already been done. But HBK got the most heat of the night by the way it seemed on TV. But because of that incident 7 years ago, every time I've seen a RAW or ppv in that general area, HBK always gets booed out the building. But I guess this tells you how huge that incident was to make people still complain about it today. I remember a RAW last year where Jericho interviewed HBK, and Shawn even said to move on, pick something else to boo him for. I don't even hear Shawn mention hometowns that much to get a cheap pop, so last night was really the hardest I've seen him try to get a pop.
