Sad news...the legendary Kotetsu Yamamoto passed away at the age of 68.
Yamamoto debuted for JWA in 1963, but joined Antonio Inoki in forming New Japan Pro Wrestling in 1972. He was best known teaming with Kantaro Hoshino as the Yamaha Brothers. When he retired from the ring in 1980, he became a trainer of the Dojo, where he trained wrestlers like Keiji Mutoh, Masahiro Chono, Shinya Hashimoto, and Jushin Thunder Liger, among others. Aside from training wrestlers in the dojo, Yamamoto was also a color commentator on NJPW's World Pro Wrestling shows on TV Asahi and on SXW on J Sports ESPN, where he involves himself in comedy features. RIP Kotetsu Yamamoto (1941 - 2010) |
