If MVP retired today...

Would you notice? Would you care? He was really popular for a while, but he's never used an original finisher and nothing really came from his face turn or his tag team effort with Mark Henry. I don't dislike him, but I don't care if he's on tv. So the question is... do you?

I would. He's pretty damn good on the mic and perfectly serviceable in the ring. I don't harbor any notions of him being a main eventer, but I really do like his work in the midcard.

They don't do enough with him. He had a great persona as a heel, but when he turned face, he just sort of lost it. He went from being a cocky and confident heel to being a confident, but almost humble face. Essentially, he's lost his swagger.

they have given him chances to shine and he has never ran with the ball.

Look at him compared to some like Kofi. Kofi made himself standout much more in his limited chances. There are only so many seats at the table. make it happen.

Honestly, all it would take is them spending time putting him into a feud and we could see how over he could actually be. When you just have someone floundering, people stop caring.

Mehhhhh. Was red hot for a while as a heel, floundered badly as a face. Don't know if that's because he simply doesn't have any other 'dimensions' or they aren't letting him show what he can do. Have him 'demand a trade', go back to what he's good at because he hasn't shown anything since turning and moving to RAW. Haven't seen anything from him worth shit in a long time actually. There are a bunch of guys that could fill his spot atm.

When I first read this, I had things all mixed up. I thought the guy thought he was still on RAW, and I didn't think he was on RAW and then I remembered he is in another feud with Jack Swagger.

So my point was going to be that some fans may have even basically forgot about him in general.

Then I realized CSL was saying he should be the MVP he was, the highest paid free agent ever in Smackdown! History. I'd like that too. Stick with what worked. at the least, he was feuding with top guys at the time. I think him and Kennedy were a good tandem, and Kennedy clearly didn't benefit from his time on RAW either.

So to answer the question, wouldn't miss MVP now, but would miss his 2006 potential.

MVP is obviously a strong talent, but his gimmick simply hasn't evolved enough since his initial run in the company, much like Carlito toward the end of his WWE tenure.

The face turn was a bad idea, but I honestly feel that he could've made it work if he possessed the proper levels to his character. There's no depth to MVP and nothing truly interesting or entertaining about his face persona. The "Ballin Elbow" is also an extremely cheap rip-off of the People's Elbow, and will always be compared against it and ranked well below it, making him look weak simply by comparison to the Great One.

My answer is basically "no." I think it would be a shame to lose a talent with so much potential, but potential without growth is nothing, and that's what MVP is right now: nothing.

It wouldn't affect the WWE and I wouldn't really be overwhelmed with sorrow, but at the same time MVP is a guy that they should be doing more with. He's a great talker and has always been solid in the ring. He was hot when he turned face but he's gotten pretty stale due to lack of opponents. I know "turn him heel" is kind of a lame answer, but in MVP's case I think it's true. He made a much better heel and this way he could feud with Kofi.

It's a tricky one. He's pretty servicable on the mic and in the ring. I almost wanna lay the blame on "Creative". Seems every now and again they chose to so something with the midcard guys (see: MVP v Hardy) then the rest of the time they couldn't give a toss.

Guys like MVP, Christian, Bourne, etc should be given the same sort of attention that The Rock, HHH, Ausitn, Owen, Jericho, Benoit etc were given during their time in the midcard. Sometimes I think midcard is a dirty word in modern wrestling.

I would miss MVP, but I don't think it would be irreversibly damaging to my enjoyment as a viewer. As many have said, MVP is a damn solid talent that just doesn't seem to be at a career high right now. At times he has been red-hot, and that is a shame, because it shows what MVP is capable of.

He's actually getting a nice little push against Jack Swagger, although it seems more of a demotion of Swagger than a promotion for MVP. Also, I've got to be honest -- I hate the use of the Play of the Day. It's essentially Shelton Benjamin's Paydirt, and I just cannot get into it as a finisher for MVP.

I do think a heel turn would be good for MVP. Or at least a return to his character. As many have said, he's lost some dimension. Hopefully his new theme or whatever helps him get refreshed. His run on RAW was absolutely horrible, for the record.

It should be noted that MVP himself hasn't really done anything to demand the spotlight on him, though. You look at guys like The Miz and Kofi Kingston, as many have pointed out, and you see how they cannot be ignored as rising stars. Somehow MVP got lost along the way to being a sure-fire thing. I'm sure creative hasn't helped, but MVP needs to find a way to make himself "creative-proof."

They should give him a two-three year main-event level run then job him out to the younger guys.

He's handcuffed by the gimmick. A complete repackaging might be good for him, but he's been "MVP" too long...it would seem forced and probably wouldn't go over well.

I kind of liked him as a pro on NXT, so it might be nice to see him continue that off the show...perhaps take a young guy under his wing, maybe make a run as a tag team or something, I don't know. I think he's too good to leave off shows for weeks at a time, but I'm not clamoring for title runs (although a Ziggler/MVP feud for the IC title would be fun to watch).

I still don't get how people can still say this about wrestling characters. JBL went from 'Bradshaw' the beer drinking bar fighter, and one half of a tag team, from 1998 until 2004, and then became 'JBL', a self made millionaire that lived and worked in NYC and basically became Million Dollar Man of the new millennium.

Yes he didn't completely change, because they didn't hide that it was the same person, as they do with some gimmick changes. But the character itself did a complete 180.

I know it's been said alot, but if they can do it with Bradshaw of the APA, then they can do it with anyone.

I'm not a big fan of MVP, but his recent thing with Jack has actually been pretty good. I put them on the same overall level of usually being quite "meh"/blah" but I think they have good chemistry.

I'd miss him a little but since his match with Orton when he was first traded to RAW he was great but ever since then he has gradually gone downhill but his recent feud with Swagger has peaked my interest.

I wouldn't mind it if they had him team with Percy Watson for a little while. Have MVP vs. Drew McIntyre on SmackDown! this week, with MVP getting a clean win out of nowhere with the Play of the Day. Jack Swagger then attacks MVP after the match and Percy Watson makes the save.

The next week, Swagger beats Watson with the Ankle Lock, and then goes to hurt Watson some more, and MVP runs out for the save. That can lead to Swagger & McIntyre vs. MVP & Watson, which the faces can win with their better chemistry.

As many have said, MVP seemed to be ruined by WWE's annual Draft aka "Hey this guy is shit hot on SmackDown, let's move him to Raw!" which nearly always results in your momentum being killed dead.

Reverting back to his heel persona I think is critical for him to try and generate any sort of momentum at this point. Even at that, I think his angle with Matt Hardy back in 2007/08 will wind up being the best thing he does in WWE.

A random thing they could do with MVP: Have the Breakout Battle Royal return as an annual tradition at Survivor Series, or something. Featuring guys who have never won a World Title, the winner gets a title shot at TLC. MVP could win that match, and then get a World Heavyweight Title opportunity, which he could win and then have a short run with the belt to test the waters with him.
