Laggy slow system
Any help will be appreciated . I just put in a 1TB harddrive a week or so ago . finnally got everything working. So i decide to put in Vuze see http://www.tpww.net/forums/showthrea...88#post3244888. I then decided to put in uTorrent heard it was small . But everytime i loaded it up or added a torrent to it . my ram would skyrocket up and everything would become laggy . well now my system is doing it randomly with no torrents running . i elimated uTorrent no vuze. Im using bitlord now . Now all of a sudden my ram meter is gone from my objectdock thing ? so no idea to tell if its running high anymore . Could it be a videocard driver issue as its not just the internet thats laggy and slow but everything. Sorry for the rambling . Computer is an Alienware ALX 7500 system with windows XP with a new 1TB harddrive intel core 2duo CPU 3.00 GHz 2.25GB of RAM video card is a Nivida GTX 295

I'd check for any viruses or whatever. Also check task manager and you will see what's taking up your ram.

Any anti-virus is good until you have a problem. In fact, I would put money on the fact that something in Norton has changed and taht's what's slowing your system down.

Use AVAST! for an antivirus. Dunno if it's super great, but it's does the job for what I need it to do.
When you bought the PC, it should have come with a System Restore disc that would let you restore your system to factory settings so you can start all over. As far as UTorrent goes, it's great. I've had no issues, slow down or anything with it. Run your task manager, as was suggested. That will give you an idea of what might be bogging your system down. Also, kudos on the PC. I went the cheaper route with an HP ($750) because I really can't take a 2nd and 3rd mortgage out just to get an Alienware, as much as I'd like one. |
