Vintage Micheal Cole
Is anyone else extremely annoyed by him? Yeah, we know this is the longest running weekly episodic television show in history. Why is everything "vintage?"
Does he have a hard-on for Miz? Is Daniel Bryan his step brother or something? I mean....c'mon! This guy blows! ![]() |

Your reaction alone is the exact reason why Cole is actually quite good at what he does. He has embraced his annoying features, and pushed them to the moon, to the point that he has become a decent heel commentator.
He's no Jesse Ventura or Bobby Brain...or even Heyman, but he's actually getting pretty good. My problem is actually watching Lawler try to fill the face commentator role. After so many years of being the ass, he's trying to find the good in people and counter Cole's anger towards Daniel Bryan. It's odd. |

Here's the thing about Michael Cole:
Now he is actually a WRESTLING CHARACTER. This is probably what he needed to be the whole time. Atleast on RAW. I know he had some storylines on Smackdown, but was never anything more than a broadcaster. Now he plays the role of a heel, plays the role of the spokesman for the GM, and actually makes smart comments about wrestlers. He is actually entertaining now. Yes, the weekly episodic thing is getting on my nerves, but Vince has to put his company over. But as far as his commentary, he is fun to listen to now. |

Cole is now a person I love to hate which is exactly what he's going for I'll admit every time he makes a prickish remark I think to myself 'fuck you Cole' and that right there is exactly what makes him a good heel

As much as I detest Cole I will admit he makes more of a contribution to the show than King does.

OK new question: If Cole is a good heel, who should be playing his face partner? And don't say JR... just don't.

As has been said, since he's developed a character I've loved him. I'm not a huge fan of his actual announcing, nor do I enjoy the GM bullshit. But since he's been a heel he's been highly entertaining. I love how dickish he comes off at times.
The only problem is that he fades in and out of the heel character while in the booth. One minute he'll be shitting on someone then turn about-face on him or the situation, or he'll be in heel mode then the next second he's in WWE hype mode. I think the problem is Vince there, though, not Cole. I have a feeling that Cole or someone not named "Vince McMahon" suggested this whole character thing, and that would explain his inconsistency, since that isn't what Vince wants. Vince wants you pushing Cena's latest movie, the main event during undercard matches and Vince's view on things. |

This video shows the true potential in a fully heel Cole. This was the promo in which he won me over. If he became a heel GM in this character I'd vastly enjoy it. |

When I first heard this it showed me how entertaining he truly can be if let loose. Vince and the WWE style are a huge thing holding Cole back, I think. I'm not saying that if he didn't have Vince yelling in his ear he'd magically become a great announcer, but I think there's huge potential for him to play a great character in the booth. His problem for years has been that he's been a generic announcer. He had nothing really special to bring to the table in the position he was in. |

Yeah, he's been greatly entertaining when he heels it up.
The problem with it is on RAW he has The King, who just sits on his thumbs and doesn't do anything to counter Cole's points and build up the face (Daniel Bryan). |

I think Cole will end up being a manager for the Miz. He would be great in the role. I personally always felt Michael Cole was a good announcer, especially on Smackdown. I don't see why people were always down on him as he tells great stories as a broadcaster. He's no JR but he is decent enough. I can't stand Striker. After somebody hits a big move he just goes OHHHHHH, it's annoying and I hate how blatantly obvious he is at trying to be a heel. He gets beaten up two weeks in a row by Cody Rhodes and Husky Harris and he cheers for him the loudest on Smackdown. It doesn't make any sense to me.

I don't care what this post looks like either
In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[2] In addition to the offending poster, the noun troll can also refer to the provocative message itself, as in "that was an excellent troll you posted". While the term troll and its associated action trolling are primarily associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels highly subjective, with trolling being used to describe intentionally provocative actions outside of an online context. For example, recent media accounts have used the term troll to describe "a person who defaces internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families."[3][4] |

Wow, hearing that f-bomb vid makes me respect how much someone has to control "swear words". I'd be fucked. I can't say a sentance without swearing most of the time.
I don't actually like his style or voice. Maybe cos I liked Monsoon/Heenan & Ross/Lawler, fuck even Joey Styles. But meh, he's what ya got on RAW and I doubt that's gonna change. Besides Grisham, and tbh, I don't know much of his work cos I cba watching SD! most weeks. |

I honestly feel like Cole and Josh Matthews have something special going on NXT. When Cole went on tyraids about Daniel Bryan, Josh would fight him tooth and nail about it. They work pretty well together! Josh needs to develop slightly more, both as a commentator and a persona. Together they'd be a great team I think. |

It's been said numerous times but I really hope he turns out to be the GM. You can tell he loves the heat, and he totally suits it.
The recent comments that Jericho says to him like "whats his email address!!!" actual have me laughing when I'm watching. My post had no point at all, but just thought I'd mutter something about it. ![]() |

cole garners great heat, and a very unique one (he hates daniel bryan, but loves john cena) maybe they are experimenting a kind of hybrid heel kind thing with cole.
maybe a one - off worked shoot segment with him and j.r. IN oklahoma would be interesting to watch. |

Heck no I'm more annoyed by how much Lawler has toned down i'd say at the next draft he should be shipped over to SD and we can have either Striker or Matthews in his place.

It depends on who else is commentating with him since people like JBL and Josh Matthews compliment his announcing style so he doesn't sound as bland or boring while watching a match.
His heel commentator character is actually interesting since now he actually gets involved in certain feuds or matches. |

I used to hate Cole too, until I watched him on NXT and saw the back and forth he had with Mathews and Stryker.... I think he's not as good on Raw because King blows dick as a face announcer. When King used to get out of line or say something offensive, J.R. was a master at getting upset, offended, or lecturing King on why he was wrong. King doesn't do that at all when Cole is ripping R- Truth or overly praising Miz.

Michael Cole is growing on me as a character. The guy can actually cut a better promo than he can call a match. He's legitimately entertaining in certain roles, and he gets good heat. To be honest, I'd have him become the General Manager of RAW in the near future. Have Triple H revealed as the current GM, and then have Cole take the position. Bring Josh Mathews or Todd Grisham over to SmackDown!, with King not liking whoever it is, because he feels they are some dumb kid. Switch King back to the antagonist announcer, with Mathews or Grisham constantly explaining to King why he is a fuckhead.
As for who should be working with Cole now? I actually don't mind King as a face. He's not great, but whatever. It's an interesting dynamic. It really should be Josh Mathews, though. He and Cole have weirdly good chemistry. |
