What if...Hogan hadn't turned in WCW?
Would the nWo have been as popular without that star power? Would it have even worked as long as it did?
It's time to make TPWW MEAT again! Quote:

I feel like WCW would have died no matter what. Bischoff was going to hire ICP and Vampiro no matter what and KISS was going to baptize them on Halloween night.

I think Hogan turning heel was WCWs big moment, like Austins 3:16 speech in the WWF, and without his backstage clout i dont think it would have gone as far as it did. Every time they reboot the NWO without Hogan it dies pretty quickly, it needed that event to make it work so everything else seems watered down.

Even if another big star in the company took that spot between Nash and Hall, whether it was Flair, Sting, Luger or Macho Man, the nWo angle wouldn't have lasted a year. The reason being that if Hogan wasn't part of the nWo, then he'd be the guy up against the nWo, and you know he'd want to do the ultra super duper good guy thing and take them down one by one.
If someone else had "started" the nWo at Bash at the Beach 96 and Hogan played the face up against them for awhile before finally turning heel and revealing himself as the leader of the nWo at, say, Starrcade 1996, I think the angle might have lasted even longer and been even bigger. |
