SD spoilers
The crew set up for the show by putting a podium and flowers in the ring for Undertaker's funeral.
The actual show started with Paul Bearer and Kane at Taker's gravesite. Kane said the saga is over and his brother is never coming back. He said Taker is gone and condemned to an eternity of agony, and he wants the fans to thank him for removing Taker and his false hope from their lives. Kane said he is the heartbeat of everyone in the audience, and the devil's favorite demon. He said the time for mourning is now. He told the fans to bow their heads for a moment of silence for his brother. Alberto Del Rio came out and interrupted Kane. He said it's a tragedy...that he never had a shot at the World Hvt. Championship. Del Rio said the only funeral we're going to have is for Kane's title. Del Rio attacked Kane. Rey Mysterio ran out, so Del Rio split. Mysterio hit the 619 on Paul Bearer. Kane threw Rey out of the ring. Kane turned around and was caught with a spear by Edge. Del Rio told Teddy Long to make him the number one contender. Long said no, and booked a Triple Threat match between Del Rio, Mysterio, and Edge to determine the number one contender to the World Hvt. Championship. 1. Daniel Bryan defeated Dolph Ziggler (w/Vickie Guerrero) in a champion vs. champion match. Vickie is dressed like a cougar and has a dog collar on. Ziggler jumped out to the early advantage. Bryan fired back with a series of punches and kicks, and then hit a clothesline. Ziggler had the sleeper applied, but Bryan countered out of it and bumped the ref accidentally. Dolph hit the Zig Zag and had the three count, but the ref was out. Vickie tried to interfere. Dolph turned around and Bryan caught him with a kick that led to him getting victory. Josh Matthews tried to interview Paul Bearer. Paul ranted until Kane came up behind them and stared at Josh until he left... Kelly Kelly was looking into a mirror when Cody Rhodes entered the room and said he needs the mirror more than she does. Big Show entered the scene and challenged Rhodes to a match. Cody declined and said he's a tag team wrestler, but said he would face him if he could find a partner. Kelly whispered in Show's ear and he smiled... 2. Jack Swagger (w/Eagle mascot) defeated Kaval. Swagger won with the ankle lock. Overall, a pretty decent match with good spots. The Divas Halloween costume contest is up. Teddy Long and Hornswoggle came out. The Bella Twins dressed as Batman and Robin. Alicia Fox was Cleopatra, Kelly Kelly was Little Bo Peep, Rosa Mendes was a leprechaun, Melina was Spider Woman, and LayCool dressed as Lady Gaga and Beyonce. Teddy turned the contest into a match... 3. The Bella Twins, Kelly Kelly, and Melina beat LayCool, Rosa Mendes, and Alicia Fox. All the Divas brawled, and Kelly picked up the win by hitting the K2 on Rosa... Edge and Rey Mysterio talked about the Triple Threat. Edge said it is not about unity tonight. He said he won't discriminate when it comes to beating Rey or Del Rio to become No. 1 contender... Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre spoke about how Nexus is pathetic. Cody said he and Drew will now be known as The Dashing Ones... 4. Big Show and Kofi Kingston beat Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre. The heels worked over Kofi's knee throughout the match. Kofi finally got the hot tag. Show chokeslammed Cody and got the win. Great match. Drew left Cody in the ring laid out while Kofi and Show celebrated their win. Cody recovered and called Drew back. He said Drew was in his way and he'll win titles without him. Drew told Cody to get out of his face. Cody said the Dashing Ones are finished... 5. Edge defeated Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio to become No. 1 contender to the World Hvt. Championship. Great action early, as everyone was given a chance to shine. There were plenty of near falls before Edge speared Del Rio for the win. Afterward, Kane came out for a staredown with Edge. Kane did the pyro bit and held up his title belt to end the show. ![]() |

Went fast like VKM's Lawsuit against the Government of Connecticut for barring voters from wearing WWE gear at the voting polls, that lasted all of about an hour as well....lol

Not at all surprised Cody and Drew have split up already, creative obviously enjoy the tag team break up angle as they've now done it four times in the past three weeks.
Regardless, looks like a strong show this week. |

I prefer Drew and DCR to focus on singles careers anyways.

What was the purpose of making new tag belt designs if the two teams who fought for them (Harts and the Dashings) are breaking up too soon.
5 matches seems a bit too short but the show sounds pretty good overall. |

I wouldn't be so sure The Dashing Ones are done guys. This is how storylines work.

I thought it would just be a way to segue things into Cody and Drew having singles careers, but maybe the WWE has a masterstroke here. What if Cody Rhodes & Drew McIntyre each get a new tag team partner? For example: Curt Hawkins just broke up with Vance Archer. While I'd love to see Curt Hawkins get a singles push, things are just too packed right now. Rhodes & Hawkins would make sense since they both feel that their partners were "holding them back." Drew McIntyre & Vance Archer would make a weird tag team, but they both have that "silent killer" type gimmick going.
The other possibility is that Rhodes gets Goldust as a new tag team partner. Drew McIntyre & Ted DiBiase vs. Cody Rhodes & Goldust? That would have some story behind it. Other than that, the show sounds good: * The Triple Threat makes sense, because while Edge and Rey Mysterio were the sole survivors, having the two face off could damage Edge's momentum as a face. Having a heel in there gives them someone to root against. I'd have preferred to have seen all the members of Team SmackDown! get a chance to compete for a shot at the title, though. * Daniel Bryan vs. Dolph Ziggler really didn't need to be done again. Ziggler has now lost three times to the US Champion. I guess this is good for Bryan, and the storyline is going somewhere for Ziggler, though. Bryan wrestling on SmackDown! is a good thing. While I do wish brand lines were more defined, it's probably good business for "recogniseable stars" to be on SmackDown!. That's right, I just called Daniel Bryan a "recogniseable star." I thought that was where they were going with John Cena & David Otunga winning the WWE Tag Team Titles; but that was wrong. *cough* * Jack Swagger is a former World Heavyweight Champion that needs some momentum built. Kaval and he apparently had a great match. This is not a burial of Kaval. I'd have preferred to have seen Jack Swagger (as well as Tyler Reks, Big Show and Kofi Kingston) in the main event, and Kaval face someone like Curt Hawkins (who for now is a singles guy), but whatever. * The Divas stuff will be Divas stuff. * The only good thing coming out of the tag team match will be the aforementioned scenario where McIntyre & Rhodes find new tag team partners, or if we get Big Show & Kofi Kingston challenging for the WWE Tag Team Titles. The match itself sounds good, and Show & Kofi could work as a tag team. Kofi is great at taking a beating, and Show is great at giving them out. Perfect for a face tandem. I'd like to see them challenge Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater for the titles at Survivor Series. * Kane vs. Edge is a match that I'd like to see. I'm not about to pay money for it, but Edge has been working really well on SmackDown!, and Kane is the most credible he has arguably ever been. To be honest, I'm thinking they switch the title to Edge, but Kane loses nothing from that. It's just the case of Edge having more to lose by not winning; unless it segues into another feud, which could work. Alberto Del Rio also sounds like a bad-ass actually wanting a piece of Kane. |

Seems like Del Rio will cost Edge the match at Survivor Series and set up a feud between those two.
At this point, I don't see Kane dropping the belt to anyone except the Big Show. |
