How long has this spot been around?
The spot where a wrestler runs the ropes, and their opponent follows them immediately. The first wrestler stops and the second wrestler comes up from behind (or runs a little past wrestler 1) and does a move.
I don't remember seeing it much over the years, if at all. I saw it multiple times at EVOLVE last night and I've seen it a few times in WWE over the past year. Is this a relatively new spot, a spot that's being used a lot more than before or did I just miss the boat entirely on it? ![]() |

There was a WWE wrestler who used to do this nearly every match, can't recall who it was though

Jericho did it a few times when he came back. Other than that I don't remember it in WWE.

I think Randy Orton has done it a few times.

I think I know what you're talking about. Dibiase seems to do it alot now, where he'll follow the guy in shortly behind them, they hit the ropes, turn around, and Dibiase is right behind him and blasts them with a lariat.
The first time I ever saw this done was by Marufuji in NOAH. Not saying he started it, but that's as far back as I can date it. He did it before I saw anyone in the Indys here, or WWE do it. In fact, I'm pretty show Jericho stole it from him. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, don't get me wrong, I just figured he did, since Marufuji also does the codebreaker, and Jericho took that too

Yeah, that's the spot. There's also a video of AJ floating around doing it but it's terrible because he stops in the middle of the ring for like 3 seconds to wait. That's the first time I remember seeing it.
Guess I'm not crazy thinking it's a relatively new spot, especially to the US scene. |

Chris Sabin uses it all the time, i'm not sure when he started doing it but he most likely copied it from a japanese guy.

I'd like to see someone do this spot but run ahead of the guy, hit the other ropes and blast them with a full-steam lariat.

That's it! It was Chris Sabin I was thinking of.. Wonder why I thought it was a WWE guy though.
