The Substitute GM... (spoilers)
Well, I didn't know exactly how to leave this open...
Anyways, Heyman filled Angle's shoes last week, returning to his former role as the onscreen GM. Those who have seen Smackdown know the outcome with the Dudleys and everything. With rumours of the return of ECW, and rumours of Paul coming back as a manager, it would stand to reason that this might be where he was coming in. I personally wouldn't mind seeing him get a couple more ECW alumni under his "management" and running with what was started on this week's Smackdown! Hopefully things don't actually advance into a full-fledge ECW deal. *fongers crossed* “There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”--John Rogers |

Wll, they've got the show WWE Experience taking up the time that was given to Confidential. So at least for now, Paul Heyman could definitely be taking some of his ECW alumni and returning them to their former glory. The Dudleys, ( Spike will maintain his eternal wussiness by refusing to sign up) maybe Tommy Dreamer or Lance Storm after a brand change, Nunzio, and if the wrestling gods shine upon me, Taz.
A Paul Heyman led stable of wrestlers who go around destroying everything in sight in order to recapture their former ECW glory would be great TV. |

Imagine how much it would suck for RVD if the only other face opposing ECW was Spike Dudley.

Swapping Storm over to Smackdown, since he's supposed to be "gone heel," could work.
Either that, or have him jump ship. Smackdown needs mor people. |

That was one hell of a fk'n segment on Smackdown. Heyman does a marvelous job at shooting, cause that's what it kind of was, when he is on the mic. Everything he said about the Dudleys being puppets and everything was just so true. I love when he talks sh** like that. And then the turn was great. It wasn't your regular heel turn where the one guy nails his friend and then smiles at the guy he was just fighting with, which signals they have been in cahoots all along. The Dudlyes and Heyman weren't in cahoots or anything, the Dudleys just realized that what Heyman was saying was true and they just snapped. I love Heyman saying that was a good start after they beat the crap out of RVD. Just a great segment all together.
Now you got to figure that Heyman will start rounding up some more ECW guys who are just doing nothing right now (Storm, Rhyno) and give them the same kind of speech he gave the Dudleys. He would have to appear on both shows to do this though. Then maybe RVD joins down the line setting up RVD vs Guerrero for the Title during the summer. Now I don't know if RVD can be a successful heel in the WWE, but it doesn't hurt to try. But it would be cool if the ECW stable appears on both shows as sort of a rebel faction too. |

Rob Van Dam is so over, it's hard to picture him being a successful heel in the WWE. I mean, he's been a heel before, but I'm not sure how easy it'd be to get people booing him.

Well alligning him with Heyman is the best way to start his heel turn off. I think if he started to kiss up to Heyman and ALWAYS cheated in his matches with Heyman's help and when spaeaking on the mic just let him be a real arrogant co** like he was in ECW when he was a heel. See the problem is the moves that he does which gets pops from the crowd all the time.

Actually a lopsided feud against an ECW faction where RVD plays the heavy underdog but eventually comes out on top would be a good way to re-establish his credibility as a main-eventer. The way Smackdown is going, Cena and Eddie are going to be taking up the top face slots for a while. This would be a good way to keep him over while other storylines are playing out.
Say..RVD vs ECW while Eddie dispatches Bradshaw and then Booker. RVD looks impressive, so it leads into a face/face Eddie vs RVD program for a few weeks and maybe a PPV towards November. |

A Babyface match would be cool between Eddie and RVD, but I don't know, I think it would be better if Eddie was trying to survive against Heyman/RVD and the ECW faction. Heyman is a great weapon on the mic and I think he can generate heat for RVD if he's put with him.

I never thought I'd see the day where John 'Bradshaw' Layfield would headline a PPV before Rob Van Dam...
It would be great if it was RVD VS. ECW Lots of possibilities for feuds...RVD/Storm, RVD/Rhyno, RVD/Tazz, RVD/Dreamer Hell like you guys said it gives RVD something to do while the main event scene is locked up. |

Heyman did say he was only GM for one night though right? Or is he back indefinitely...aka until they decide Angle should be recovered...aka next week.

RVD's headlined his fair share of PPV's, just never caught his break.
The problem with putting people like Bradshaw, Booker T, and RVD against Eddie Guerrero is that they're huge underdogs because Eddie Guerrero is firmly established as a credible WWE Champion now; over the likes of Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle. I'm not saying that Booker T and RVD are in the nadir like Bradshaw, but they haven't been able to go over the established main eventers, which in the last year has been Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar, and The Undertaker. Brock's gone, Angle's on the shelf, and Undertaker isn't bound to lose within the next few months with his "new" gimmick. Let's just say that RVD AND Booker T better be able to get involved in this ECW thing somehow. |

I think Paul should remain on TV but not as GM, I think they should give that spot to someone else, while Paul leads the ECW Faction.
Ive debated the point about RVD as a heel, and I really think it would be tough to get the fans to hate him, but if they use him as Heyman's puppet, I think it 'might' work. Its worth a shot anyway. I love the idea of bringing Storm, Rhyno and even Dreamer (although I think he might be getting released) to Smackdown to join Heyman's crew. Storm is the perfect example of what Heyman was talking about on Smackdown, a guy who has been nothing since coming to the WWE. The switch could finally give him a boost and refresh his career. I like the idea of RVD battling the ECW faction to establish them as heels. The way I would turn RVD is in a feud with Eddie Guerrero. I've mentioned this a couple of times, but I think it would be cool to see RVD-Eddie at Summerslam (face vs face). Eddie would win, but there would be some controversy which would lead to a rematch at the next SD PPV. The rematch would be a Ladder Match. In that match they go in again as faces, but this time they are more heated rivals. Then during the match out comes the ECW guys, and they lay out Eddie, and allow RVD to climb the Ladder and get the belt. That would give Eddie a faction to battle and a solid chase story to regain the title. |

Then again, in the same step, he made it seem like Angle would be back next week in the same old capacity. Of course, it's easier to buy a GM coming back after a broken leg and concussion than a wrestler returning to the ring after the same. After all, Kurt can return in a wheelchair if he wants. |

He did have a World title match on a PPV once, at Unforgiven if I'm not mistaken but it was not in the main event. My definition of headlining is when you are in the main event and RVD has never been in a one-on-one main event for a WWE PPV. So I probally should have made that clear before I ran my mouth... |

I loved Heyman on SmackDown, but the one thing that kept coming up is...he got drafted by RAW! I know he quit, but...Heyman shouldn't be going all Eli Manning on WWE.

With Angle returning to Smackdown very soon (despite the fact that he should be DEAD), I think the best move would be to have Paul Heyman show up on RAW tomorrow night.
While on RAW, he backs Rhyno and Lance Storm and fires them up with the same aggression that he gave the Dudleys on Thursday. Then on Thursday night, he's back on Smackdown, continuing to help the Dudleys regain their edge, and the following Monday he's back on RAW, and so on, and so forth. This would lead to an eventual angle where Heyman's guys wrestle for an opportunity to be traded to the other brand, where all of Paul's faction could be together. After they succeed, all hell shall break lose in the WWE. |
