Gonna get a new TV

Hey,
I've had the same TV for around 3 years now, and it is awful.

It's a 23inch 'HD Ready', the screen is breaking, it has bugger all ports on it. At the moment i'm running my Xbox using Component cables, which to use i've had to buy a device to convert from VGA to Component. To use my surround sound I have to use the optical port provided on the Xbox's video cable, which means that my £250 sound system is only being used for my Xbox . Wii looks really blurry, no chance of getting a PS3 working because of the port shortage...

Not really sure which TV to get tbh, my price range is £300-£400 and i'm looking at 37" screens.

Toshiba Regza:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-37RV...4393000&sr=8-1

Sony Bravia:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-KDL37EX...4393143&sr=1-2

Any opinions or recommendations would be awesome.
Cheers guys

Cant go wrong with the Sony, my folks have got a bigger screen than the one your looking at, but its perfect for what you want IMO.

Would have said the Toshiba, but the 37" has a buzz or something. This would be the best option if you've got the room for an extra 3".

Dynex has some cheap HD TVs for like 200 bucks for a small HD. Not sure what the prices are for the higher models but it's a pretty good tv for me.

I would also check open-box items from Best Buy and shit.

Dynex is a Best Buy brand. I wouldn't recommend that unless you seriously just wanted a TV to slap in a room. Insignia is one as well, and I would recommend it over Dynex.

I've had my LG for two years now, and have been really impressed with it. Its not a Sony or Samsung, but its really good for the price.

Interesting, The Sony is looking nice at the moment, gonna measure my room to see if I can fit the extra 3" in to make it up to a 40" like Hasney said, seeing as it's the same price as a 37".
Shops around me seem to me a fair bit more expensive than Amazon, do they take much money off for display models?

I wouldn't touch a display model TV, honestly. Those TVs are on at least 12 hours a day, and probably won't come with some of the original stuff that came in the box. Most places just throw out the rest of the stuff (remote, stand, etc.).

And I'd still rather buy online. Gets shipped to your door instead of you having to drive the TV home, and you shouldn't have to pay tax on the item.

I've got a 26" Dynex that I bought 3 years ago for $330. Works just as well as the day I got it and the HD quality is tremendous. Not saying I don't want a bigger one, but for what I needed this was the best choice for me.

The first one I got before this one was a Philips...Worst picture I've seen, my 360 wouldn't display in HD on it. I brought it back the next day and traded it in for the Dynex.

The first HD I had was a Phillips. It was okay but I knew I could get better. Now I have a Sony Bravia. 1080P LED. And I would say if you could get LED over LCD... get it. LED is better overall as far as picture quality. But as far as brands go... I've always been told that it is better to get a brand that you know, get a well known brand over one that isn't known that well.

And as far as Vizio goes... eh.

My vote would be for Sony.

illmatic does not have that much rep yet (10+)
I would go with Samsung. I see a comment about them breaking in 3-5 years, but I have never had a problem.

I bought my first LCD about 5 years ago and it was a 32 inch Samsung and it is still running great(picture is still great and love all the ports). I ended up buying a 48 inch to replace the 32 inch in the living room and moved the older one to my bedroom. The 48 inch has even better picture and sound and again has enough ports to have my wii, 360, dvd, and cable all HD and my surround sound works great with it. I LOVE that tv.

I bought my latest and 3rd samsung about a year ago and is a 37 inch in my daughters room. Again great picture, decent sound and have had no problems with it. My daughter loves it.

So again maybe others have had some bad experience but I will prob never buy another brand of tvs. The only time I have heard about them using cheap parts was with the discount tvs they come out with around black friday, but what do you expect when you are paying 2-300 less for the same size tv?? I am also pretty sure all brands do this with their discount tvs that come out around black friday....

Also my parents own a 60 inch sony bravia and LOVE it! They have had zero problems and the picture is amazing. I usually watch big games over at their house because the tv is so nice. So I would say if I did buy a brand outside of a samsung, it would be a sony.

If you can find a samsung in your price range I would go with it . I bought a 27 inch 5 years ago still runs great today . I also have bought a 42 inch about a year ago great picture and sound quality.

Amazon charges tax for me on top of shipping, I don't know about you. I'd just take the time and look at the TVs in person and if there is one you like then search for it online to see if it's cheaper.

What Hasney said, also it was 26", measured earlier .
Settled for a Sony Bravia 37" in the end, 32" seemed to small and 40" was too big.
Cheers for the help fellas
