what would happen if??
i have always wondered this. in baseball when a pitcher makes his first pitch in the big leagues they throw the ball to the dug out for him to keep. when a hitter gets his first hit in the bigs they also throw the ball to the dug out so he can keep it as well..what would happen if a pitcher made his first pitch in professional baseball against a guy making his first plate appearance, and he swings at it and smacks a hr or something? who gets the ball? lol

The home run hitter. Seems kinda obvious under the circumstances.

Whoever the person who picks up the ball wants to give it to if he wants to give it up at all.

i figured it would go to the hr hitter. but then would the pitcher get the second pitched ball? would he even want it? that seems like something u kinda dont wanna pass up. i always figured there was an un written rule that if the pitcher is making his debut the lead off man just kinda agrees to take the first pitch regardless.
