Russo's and Ferrara's "greatest" (aka WORST) hits
Was inspired by the latest schlock of TNA programming and watching some 90s - 00s stuff on youtube to do this (sadly, like WCW, I like the match quality of TNA better than the Federation, though the story lines are worse, but not much worse atm.... I know I'll get flak for writing this, but I don't care).

Anyway, I know that seemingly overall we like to hate Russo and Ferrara, and they've done a lot of horrible stuff over the years, but I'm wondering what the GEMS are that standout in peoples minds as among the worst of either the Russo or Ferrara stuff (or both)?

Btw, NOT limited to GEMS.

- Ed Ferrara playing a character named "Oklahoma" who was a blatant and bad parody of Jim Ross. He teamed up with Dr. Death Steve Williams for awhile in a feud against Vampiro that went nowhere and didn't do anything for anyone.

- Evan Karagious and Madusa as a couple and then Evan won the Cruiserweight title and started to feud with Madusa over the belt, culminating in a match at Starrcade for the belt: the first sign that Russo didn't give a shit about the CW division.

I am not digging the Angelina and Winter garbage. WTF?

The whole Pope and Joe thing made no sense.

The Mexican American storyline looks promising. Along with Bully Ray

TNA does have better wrestling than WWE .

I think this post might have given you that neg rep I think that TNA is actually doing something right with these storylines, unfortuneately with Russo in charge they will get stale and repeditive here very shortly. I will say (as much as it hurt WCW) I loved the fact that he called Hogan on his bullshit at Bash at the Beach in 2000

Why? I thought he was asking about all of Russos stuff including TNA.

I figured that I would talk about some promising storylines by Ruso.

I happen to love TNA! Would love to see some changes though

Overall, I still think that particular result was the darkest day in wrestling history, (among the big US companies anyway; Federation/WCW/ECW), but I thought that one of the worst go nowhere angles ever was the one that led to the Judy Bagwell on a pole match. However, I'd tie the example Seth82 put with mine... completely forgot about it. Never was a Shane Douglas fan after he left ECW to become DEAN (shudder) lol.

Vince Russo's ever changing mind is what fucks everything. Running an angle one week then the next either ignoring it or having somebody say "it was a work, we're members on the NWO" or whatever. He can't decide on where to go with his stories in advance, it's always off the cuff in the worst way.

I seriously have no idea how or why or who would want to have him write stories for their company.

Sorry guys, TNA does not have better wrestling than WWE. I watch Impact every now and again, they NEVER tell a fucking story, its just moves and punches and kicks before somebody interferes or gets squashed or D/Qed. Their wrestling is HORRIBLE. The last great TNA match I have seen was Desmond Wolfe vs Angle in a cage, other than that match I haven't seen anything on par with WWE in over a year.

TNA is like a huge indy company, they just put cologne on a pig, still a pig.

And if you want to talk X-Division, I haven't seen anything from the X-Division in years that rivals Sin Cara vs Primo from Raw. At least they looked like they wanted to hurt each other and win the match... X-Division's moves are WAY out of control, those guys need to go do gymnastics, nobody cares about your pussy hair and gay flips.

Roller hit the nail on the head, of anything russo has ever been involved with bash at the beach is THE SHOOT of which all other shoots are measured. everything he said was legit and right on and he did what every other wrestler and smark had been dyingto do for years call hogan out on his bullshit. the fact that they work together now shows both of them are scumbags as in hogans book he swore he would never work with him again, i guess getting taken to the cleaners by your cougar wife and being broke changes that, but thats a diff chapter for a diff book.

russo's misses are quite vast and have been talked out to death, including david arquette beingthe lowest low. but in his defense i will say the fingerpoke of doom happened before he got there and that was a pretty close second in the bigger scheme of things.

also you have to wonder...if mcmahon gives russo a raise for doing smackdown and russo doesnt bolt for WCW how much better off would Atlanta have been and how much longer would they have lasted?

TNA has some decent guys and gals wrestling in it the problem is that nearly every match ends with a run in or a screw job for no other reason than the fact that Russo still thinks that shit is cutting edge. As for WCW, I can't think of one good thing that Russo and Ferrara did during there stay in the company.

also forgot one of Russo's big problems his name was attached to. between october of 99 and july of 2000, the WCW heavyweight title had been vacated 9 times. you can get by with a non credible champion on a transition but you cant pull shit liek that and ever hope to be taken seriously

Another good example of thatis when he came in Nash became a heel in early 2000 with the NWO. Then he became a face with the Millionaires Club. Then because a heel again with the Natural Born Thrillers. Then he turned face again at the end of WCW. It shows what kinda booking style Russo had


Side note, whos idea was it to reform the NWO in 2000? I've read it was Russo but I've also heard it was Sullivan

Worst part of that match was neither wrestler really wanted the stipulation but Russo thought the idea was a stroke of genius since the WWF didn't do it. Kanyon questioned the idea of having Bagwell's mom as his valet and Bagwell stopped caring how much it didn't make sense.

I seem to remember some gimmick they did where there were 4 boxes on each of the 4 corners of the ring and one held the title belt, one had a pink slip, and the other two had weapons in them or something. Maybe this was TNA. But it's stupid.


I also want to add in WCW Souled Out 2000, as it was possibly the worst PPV I've ever seen. Most of the card was scrapped right before the show went on the air. Benoit and Jeff Jarrett were scheduled to face each other in a Triple Threat Theater: 3 different matches on the card, which I thought was a great idea, and Bret Hart was supposed to defend the WCW title against Sid Vicious. But Bret and Jarrett both dropped out with injuries the week of the PPV, so Benoit faced Sid (the night he won the title) and Kidman faced three different wrestlers in the Triple Threat Theater.

I distinctly remember the opening match. Kidman versus Dean Malenko in a catch-as-catch-can match, where the loser would be the first man to leave the ring. Seemingly a decent idea for two of the best cruiserweights on the roster. But someone forgot to tell Malenko the stipulations, and less than 3 minutes into the match he takes a powder to the outside and they call for the bell. Dean and Kidman both looked really confused and it was just an embarassing way to start the show. The rest of the card was terrible as well.

My thing with TNA I think its been stated above is simply that its so damn confusing the heel/face turns seem to be occurring every week.Stable form in hour 1 and split into new factions in hr 2. Either Russo has (or hes convinced the fans have) the attention span of a squirrel hopped up on coke, I can't be bothered to care because sorting through all that crap is mind numbing. As for the worst thing Russo and Ferra did its a tie between fucking up the NB vs Millionares (why the hell were the NB the villians?)and Mike Awesome Fat chick thriller.

Any title tournament that Russo was involved with. The WCW World Title tournament was stupid. Wrestlers would lose in the first round and all of a sudden would be in the second round.

Also, a Russo trademark is to have two heels start arguing with each other and have tension, only to find out that they were together all along.
