Lex Luger apart of WWE Wellness Program
From PWTorch:
Former WWE and WCW wrestler Lex Luger says he's working with WWE talent on training and health programs as part of WWE's Wellness Policy. "I actually work behind the scenes with them now again and with their wellness club, I council a lot of their athletes on nutrition, wellness, exercise, and taking care of their bodies," Luger said in an interview on the Busted Open satellite radio show. (BustedOpen.net) Luger said he's able to use his personal experiences having been down a dark path culminating with the death of Miss Elizabeth to instruct the current generation of wrestlers on a better lifestyle. "That’s another thing that WWE is being very proactive now with the Wellness Department and really train these guys with health and nutrition and drug prevention. We’re trying to prevent the young guys, this young generation of guys from going down the same path as we did back in the '80s and '90s," Luger said. -- Luger also discussed what he thinks the key is to his close friend, Sting's, longevity in wrestling. Also, what Sting, as a Christian, thinks about the TNA product, which Luger called questionable. On Sting's longevity, Luger said, "I think him and Undertaker...their particular personas in wrestling are timeless. The fans continue to love their characters. I joke with Sting, he’s able to cover up with the jackets and paraphernalia like Undertaker. Their characters make them incredibly timeless." On the TNA product, Luger said, "I’ve heard people tell me that, and I tuned in to a couple of their shows recently and there is definitely some questionable content...I’m gonna have to bring that up to him. I’m gonna have to ask him about it." FYI: Busted Open with hosts Doug Mortman and Dave LaGreca airs Mondays and Wednesdays from 2-4:00 p.m. EST on Sirius 92, XM 207. ![]() |

Guess he's in charge of it .
Clark post Kevin Nash appeared on The LAW radio show last night. During the interview, Nash revealed that he recently received an email from Lex Luger stating that Lex was now in charge of WWE’s Wellness Policy. We hope to have more on that shortly. |

I'll bet Savage is thrilled about this, considering Luger sat around and watched Liz kill herself with drugs.

If he is involved in any way, shape or form, the credibility (suspect as it was) of the Wellness Program has evaporated.

Pretty sure another company entirely is in charge of the actual drug tests.
Luger sounds as if he is more a "advising wrestlers what to do role". Probably stuff like "take Product Y instead of Product Z and you won't get caught!" |

Lex doesn't have to worry about Sting in TNA. He's not involved in any racy storylines.

You know, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say he's talking more about the quality of the storylines, not the content.

I think its great that the WWE has taken a former COULD HAVE BEEN ICON TURNED DRUGGED UP CRIP to scare the shit of the kids.
It's like sending John Wayne Gacy into a all boys group home and telling them to play nice. seriously though, he obviously changed his life and wants to create a safer working environment for the youngsters...I'm all for reformation. |

I don't really get all the Luger hate in this thread. Yeah, he didn't have the greatest career and he possibly could have been a legend in the same vein as Macho Man, Diesel, and others, and he obviously had some drug problems and personal problems in his past and he'll always be closely connected to the Miss Liz situation. But the guy seems to have turned things around in his life and is trying to help the new generation of WWE superstars from becoming drug addicted pieces of shit like Scott Hall, so I don't really see anything wrong with this.

lol you defend Luger despite some pretty dodgy and questionable stuff but then immediately call Scott Hall a piece of shit, who is as harmful and damaging as the old drunk sitting at the end of the bar trying to stay on his stool.

Hey this is funny and what not, but at the same time quite poetic. I am no hater, quite the opposite. I truly love those guys that I grew up watching as a kid, I care about them, their health and happiness and I want nothing but the best for them for entertaining me and partially inspiring me to be what I am (no I'm not a wrestler, but none the less...). If this is true and Luger actually has a job with WWE then hell yeah, go Lex. I just don't want him to be in the dump anymore, the guy went down the wrong road and hit the dead end head on. I don't know the exacts of the Liz story, but I understand relationships spiraling out of control due to drugs and alcohol as well as life pressures. It breaks my heart when I think about Liz and what happened to her as well as all of the real pain that those who knew and cared for her must have felt. But it's not Luger's fault, every person makes their own decisions and there is nothing to be gained by blaming Luger for that. Lex has obviously turned his life around and that is wonderful for him, and due to his former success and obvious downfall he is the perfect candidate to set people straight who have started down that same dead end road that Luger knows so well.
LONG LIVE LEX LONG LIVE LUGER |

When was the last time someone was fined or suspended for a wellness policy? Doesn't seem to happen anymore and at the same time some guys have become more muscular.
Luger could be a great spokesman for talent though. I hate scare tactics, but Luger could at least help guys on the fence with taking roids, drugs, and supplements. |

So what's next? Is Braden Walker going to be in charge of the WWE Weight Loss Program? Or Zack Ryder on what to do on tv?
