Now I don't have a ton to base this on, but David Otunga...

...seems to be improving a bit. I wouldn't even go as far as to say that he's good or that I look forward to seeing him, but it's not painful to watch his matches anymore. I actually enjoyed the handicap match from last night. I also like that there appears to be a bit of effort being put into making him and McGillicutty look like an actual team. Lots of double team moves. They seem to work pretty well together.

Thoughts on any of this?

FREAKY! OUTTIE!

ill agree he seems a little bit better..the only problem is with the E making them look like a team is tough when they lose in a handycap match and dont even have any "rivals"

He has gotten a lot better. I kinda wanna see what he can do on his own with some mic time.

I agree. He was way too green for NXT Season 1, which had the strongest class. I think they just wanted to capitalize on his connection to his Wife.

I think coming up so green and learning on the fly stunted his growth. But I think being in a group has allowed him to really mature in the ring as he was somewhat masked. He was decent, with real potential on the Mic in NXT, but he couldnt do a damn thing in the ring.

I think this is kind of an old school approach. Put a couple Young Guys together in a team and let them work their ring skills together.

Honestly I am more impressed with Otunga than McGillicutty.

Yeah they rushed in too many guys from NXT who were not ready even though it did lead to one of the best moments of the last few years with the Nexus debut.

He just needed some time to develop and get used to the flow of an actual WWE match besides the random squashes or beat-downs.

It also didn't help that while Gabriel and Slatter fit well as a tag team, Otunga didn't have that luxury since his first partner was Cena and that didn't provide him with any real help and only went full-time with McGillicutty once Husky Harris left the group.

I've been missing Otunga a lot lately because of work, but I liked what I saw last night.

Also I'm a fan of the two of them as a team.

There's no doubt his in ring work has improved as he clearly already has the mic skills with that said I don't think him and Joe Hennig will be tagging for much longer they're just not quite the cohesive unit that Slater and Gabriel are.

David who?

As far as I'm concerned, stables that aren't going anywhere that need to wear belts and feud with two random guys mashed together over them are exactly why I don't see good tag team wrestling.

They were really onto something with the Uso's and Hart Dynasty.

Honestly, besides their leaders, the only one that stands out to me at all from that sort of thing is Justin Gabriel.

There's plenty of room for traditional tag teams with gimmicks, and people like that who are just "there" is a terrible misuse of those belts and part of the problem. If he needs time to improve, send his ass to Florida or something. Get the Uso's on raw and build an actual tag team division.

You're right. I just feel like a big part of matches is the psychology of them and I just stare blankly at the television when he's on, whether or not he can or will be able to wrestle well.

Better than shitting the kitchen floor, and that guy's a champion.

As far as getting the rub from his wifey, that's part of it. But he also has "the look" in the department Vince usually gravitates to. Back to "he looks impressive, he'll instantly get over!" mentality.

Getting better in the ring can come with time and practice. See Miz or even Kelly Kelly. Still say he names his finisher the "Sloppy Slam", though.

I hope he develops his mic skills more. He has potential, but he never seemed comfortable giving a promo. Like he has stage fright. To have a name like "A-List", you can't be that fucking shy.

Lastly, paring him with Henning* isn't a bad thing. It give him something to do. As half of the tag champs, he gets more ringtime, such as it is with the almost worthless tag division. Granted, they don't have the chemistry of Slater/Gabriel, or the thrown together magic of New Age Outlaws, but it's serving a purpose.

Bashing Otunga is admitedly a fun way to pass time, but if he improves over time, even marginally, he seems to have strong upside in the future... if they bank on him that long.
