Harry Potter
I went this morning and saw "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" and I thought the movie was really great. Loved it and kept pretty true to the book. Heard a couple people around me make a comment about one part of the movie being different from the book but the part they were talking about I could understand why it should be different.
Hope to hear from more people about their opinions. |

I'll be taking the misses to it on the 27th of this month, so it's right around the corner for me. All reviews I've followed pretty much say the same thing; nice way to end what has been a historic movie run.

It was okay. Probably would have appreciated it more if I was a fan of the series.
Was able to follow it with my basic knowledge of the franchise, but was a bit underwhelming as the ending of a franchise in my opinion. Harry Potter is a pretty terrible central hero though. He just stumbles upon ways or gets told how to win his battles. |

They are later vindicated, yes. Dumbledore can do no wrong, the Slytherin are generally evil snidely whiplash motherfuckers, and he just happened into the right worldview (unless you count tacit approval of slavery and segregation, in which case, he's still a little fuckhead), but the point is, he's rewarded for having blind faith in things he has no reason to trust. |

I thought it was pritty good. As always the case with any movie adaptation, it wasn't as good as the book, but it was pretty damn close. I think it was easily the best-done movie of the lot.

The scene with Snape's memories was pretty awesome. A good way to put him away.

Yeah, when I saw it for some reason the entire theater was laughing during the entire epilogue each time a new character was shown.

Same here. There was a pair of tween girls sitting in front of me and the misses, and everytime a new kid was shown, they'd burst out in laughter. I didn't get. Felt that it was unneeded, and could have done without.

TBH even in the book I thought that entire epilogue was retarded.

I didnt think the epilogue was that bad at all in the book. I thought it was a great ending to know that everyone was able to move on with their lives and actually be happy.
My favorite part in that epilogue was Harry's conversation with his son Albus and them talking about Slytherin and how he was named for 2 of the greatest headmasters and stuff. Also during the movie when Harry is in Kings Cross talking to Dumbledore, this couple of girls next to me were mad because in the book Harry is naked and he wasn't in the movie. Had to laugh at that |

I just thought it was really really gay that he named his kid Albus Severus. I don't know, just seemed too over-the-top-feel-good stupid happy for my liking.

The issue I had is that the epilogue came off as extremely cheesy, and seemed unneeded. I dunno, I thought it felt forced. I didn't buy that it had been 19 years since Harry's epic battle, nor did I see the need for the scene to have taken place.

The epilogue truthfully wasnt needed and might have been better to leave us wondering what happened after the 7th book.

I think the epilogue was great in the book. Really did closure for the reader letting them know the characters were able to move on with their lives. That Ron married and had kids with Hermione, Harry married Ginny and they had kids. Also I think it shows how Harrys perception of Snape changed by naming his son Albus Severus Potter.
For the movie, I think they could of left it out since obviously trying to show them as older didn't work out at all. |
