I love New Orleans, spent the greatest 4 years of my life in that city, but my Falcons are winning the NFC South and smashing through the Eagles on the way to the Superbowl.

Fedor, coming soon to a Pro Elite show near you. It looks like Hendo KOed him stone cold and then woke him back up with the extra punches.

Hendos contract is up. Either Roger Gracie or King Mo would be interesting match ups if he stayed in SF in my opinion. As much as I'd love to see him in the UFC, I'm not sure he's up for top level competition although if Ortiz beats Evans I think Hendo/Ortiz would be a fun one to watch.

How can anyone be happy about that call? TERRIBLE call by Herb Dean. NO WAY was Fedor knocked out or unable to protect himself.
Can anyone please explain this bullshit to me? Seems like Zuffa pulling bullshit... |

I thought it was kind of an early stoppage, the uppercut looked to stun Fedor but he was starting to defend himself as it was stopped.

Yeah he flattened out, but WAS NOT out. Just thought that was really premature coming from a seasoned ref like Herb Dean...
And for Henderson to take that win as if he just crippled a giant was kind of classless as well... If the fight was going to be called with that sort of limited tolerance shouldn't the fight should have been called when Henderson buckled FIRST? |

Maybe he was out, I couldn't see Fedors eyes or face, I'm basing it on that he turned to his stomach from his back which would constitute some awareness and defense.

I don't know if I'd go so far as to say it was all that terrible a call. Fedor didn't just flatten out, he went limp and in the heat of the moment as a ref Dean made a judgment call.
Plus, based on what Shamrock and Mauro were saying, Dean made the right choice. And before you start screaming a Zuffa conspiracy, remember that the referees are hired by the athletic commissions, Shamrock hates Dana and the commentators are Showtime employees not Zuffa employees so it would actually have been in their best interest to make it seem premature so Fedor could save face. |

Fedor hit the floor face first with his arms by his side not defending himself, he was fucking gone, by the time Herb Dean managed to get Hendo to stop throwing Fedor had recovered but that was too late. Don't see a problem with it.

I think it was the right call, but I think it was a bad stoppage, if that makes sense. Fedor went limp, in MMA when somebody goes limp it's over. He might not have been hurt at all and maybe it was his body's instinct and way of rolling away from getting hit, but he went limp so that's good enough for the ref to call it. I think it's a bad stoppage because he was defending himself and had the awareness to roll to his back and get the hands up.
Probably the right call. |

I have similar feelings to Stickman, while he did go limp, he was also 3 feet away from the mat and bent over, so it's not like he face planted from a standing position.
That said, two more rounds would have been fucking awesome. |

But he only started to defend himself after the referee had already stepped in only it took him a while to get Hendo to stop throwing punches, which gave the illusion to some that the fight was stopped a few seconds after it actually was. And imagine the shit Herb Dean gets if he then changes his mind once he see's Fedor recovering despite him being completely defenseless/gone a few seconds earlier. I'm really not seeing the argument here. He clearly goes limp and takes 2 or 3 more clean, direct shots to the side of his head with no defense or movement whatsoever. Was a good call.

Fedor was out, Herb made the right call. Hendo would've done serious damage to Fedor if he kept going.

Naw, was a fair stoppage.
I love when Fedor loses. Watching the internet mma fan is wonderful. It's like children finding out there's no tooth fairy. |

I don't see how anyone could say he was "clearly out"? Were you watching it on tv or streaming? I saw a pretty clear shot of Fedor taking shots to the face, having the presence or mind to drop flat and roll over with his hands up to protect. Slightly uncharacteristic of someone who is "out". Rocked, maybe...
I wanted Dan Henderson to win, actually. But by winning with a reason... And Next Big Thing, I just found it odd directly after the stoppage the announcers were praising what a great call while going directly to clips earlier in the fight. Not reviewing the actual stoppage until 30 someodd seconds later. I'm not claiming conspiracy or a Zuffa style screw job - I'm just saying it was sort of odd. I just really don't think it should have been called and I would have expected Henderson to have wanted to win it in a more deserving way. |

His body went limp. He broke his fall to the floor with his face. He took 2 or 3 more clean shots to the head without moving or anything that can be construed as attempting to defend himself. I don't see how anyone can say he wasn't out. Granted he recovered quickly but for those few seconds, he was completely, hopelessly defenseless and Herb Dean would have been doing mixed martial arts a disservice to not jump in when he see's that.

How many fights have you seen where the guy was completely limp and took a barrage of punches?
What about the Brock Lesnar/Shane Carwin fight? Where does the tolerance of all this lie? I just don't see it. How can you say he was completely and hopelessly defenseless? I've watched it at least 10 times and I don't see any moment where his body goes totally limp to believe he was knocked out. Furthermore, he rolled over with his hands up, looking at Herb Dean like "What?" And then, he sat STRAIGHT up. He didn't sit there and shake any cobwebs. We're talking about a span of maybe 5-10 seconds. Did you pay attention long enough to watch Fedors comments afterwards? I realize my opinion is shit in the grand scheme of things, I just don't think it ended right. I'm just really surprised it was called like that. |

you're honestly telling me that you don't see him go limp/defenseless between 17-20/21 seconds in that video? fuck even when he turns over, he looks pretty out of it still and looks to be holding his arms up on instinct And not once did Brock go limp, he was always trying to defend himself, only reason I believe that fight was nearly stopped was the sheer volume of shots he was taking. |
