I'm not saying I disagree with you, but I can certainly see her side. Let's say a family member of yours was killed and you believed it was XYZ company's fault. Would you want that company profiting off your loved one in any way?

In the situation where my loved one absolutely adored the business they were in and it would benefit my family financially, yes. Blame is blame, fine. Did WWE ever admit they were accountable? I've always heard the blame heavily mitigated to the harness company. Which is more along the lines of the absolute truth, but still, I don't think WWE admitted to being "accountable".

her poor kids come from one of the biggest wrestling family's of all time and because of their mom they're shielded from knowing how big there dad and uncles were. I'm sure they talk to cousins and know more then martha wants them to know.

But I did read her say she wanted her kids to grow up knowing who Owen Hart the man was, not the Owen "King of Harts" Hart (rocket, black-heart)

like they dont go on youtube and look him up...

I don't think that the "fans" are the only one being "fucked" in this area.
What about her kids? Does it suck that their dad is dead? Yea. It's sad. He's loved and missed by millions of people world wide. However, Martha can make some bank on this if she'll allow it. She lets them put out Owen action figures, Owen shirts, Owen video games, Owen dvds, Owen cock rings, etc, and she gets a cut from it, puts her kids and grandkids in college. She already has enough cash so her grandkids can flunk out of law school 3 or 4 times? Fine. She can set up a chairty for something Owen loved funded by the sales of Owen Hart's image.

Good points in here but also:

I'm pretty sure Oje and Athena probably have enough money to live comfortably for the rest of their lives, even if they're not millionaires. the Owen Hart Foundation exists and does alot of good in Owen's name without profiting off his wrestling career and just off the fact that we was an amazing human being.

..with that said I must say that I would like to see Martha eventually ease up a bit and maybe at least allow a posthumous induction of Owen by Bret into the WWE Hall of Fame so at least the fans and myself (being an Owen fan growing up) could have a little closure as far as his wrestling career goes.

Over the Edge 99 was the last PPV I bought, to this day. RIP Owen.

If I remember right, he failed some fireman's test in the early 90s and that was the reason he came back to WWE. It seems that he was only wrestling for the money and because of his family's legacy, rather than him actually having any real passion for it.

Absolutely correct. Owen was a reluctant wrestler. According to Martha's book there were a few times that he was going to leave the business very early on.

Unfortunately for Owen, he was born into the business and it came naturally to him..he was also very, very good at it. It's hard to turn down guaranteed money and go home to find another job, no matter how much you may or may not like your current job.

The OHF exists because of his untimely passing. To say it's directly responsible because of his wrestling career is ridiculous. There's no Curt Hennig foundation, no Brian Clark foundation, no British Bulldog foundation. It exists to keep his name and memory alive in the name of goodwill and charity just like with most other organizations that have sprung out of others untimely passings of others that are in no-way related to the pro-wrestling business.

I believe you're talking about Brian Adams...Bryan Clark is still alive.

Anyways, no matter what, Owen always brought a smile to our faces and everything. It's true that it's hard to walk away from the guaranteed money, but I believe if he left alongside Bret, Jim, and Davey Boy, he would be much more happier, as he will be with his family.

Vince wouldn't let Owen out of his contract, Bret has spoke about this numerous times, he didn't stay for the money. It's almost a lock at that time with how they banded money about and what they could have done story wise with it that he'd have gotten a very nice payday from WCW.

@CSL - correct as well. he couldn't leave. he'd asked but was denied.

Everyone's got an opinion. Sadly, most people's opinion of Owen Hart is one of ignorance and not understanding the man, simply because most people are wrestling fans and not Owen Hart fans. His legacy shouldn't be simply about what he did for a living - he was a very versatile man, by all accounts.

Martha isn't selfish. She's a was and still is a loving wife and she wants the memory of her Husband untarnished and for herself - and if there's one thing she deserves in life and should be allowed to have - it's that - and for anyone to say otherwise is a sad, pathetic statement.

..at the end of the day, We should all strive to be half the man he was and as fans we should respect his Wife's wishes. She knew him better than any of us ever did or will.

I'm pretty sure it just has to do with "wrestling and Owen" and not "WWE and Owen." I think it makes her look a bit strange but as someone stated above, she really disliked the business in general. Most of the Hart Family has passed or generally don't speak at all - so her getting mad at Bret is nothing new either - especially when he's still working with the company that her husband died working for.

She just wants the memory of Owen as her husband, not the wrestler. There's nothing wrong with that, either - because the chronicles of all of his work are available on You Tube and the Internet for public record.

..as much as everyone would like to see her ease up a bit and let somethings happen (namely a HoF induction), if it never happens in her or my life time, I'm fully prepared to deal with that as his memory and legacy is more hers than any of ours and I respect that.
