This didn't happen to me but the drummer in my band used to be a professional footballer (I say footballer, he was a goalkeeper). Anyway he was at Dunfermline in the SPL but didn't make it there and moved down the leagues to a club called Brechin. Only just found out the other night that he was on the bench one game when Brechin were playing the team I support.

There he was sent on loan to a Highland League club called Deveronvale. One game he played and was sent off for handling outside the box. However he insists that he never did and the ref was to quote "a cock". Then he played on the Monday afterwards in a reserve game and the very same referee sent him off, once more for handling outside the box. Cue him completely losing the plot and shouting at the ref, calling him every name under the sun. He was subsequently sent off five times and had to be physically escorted off the pitch by his team mates and the coaches.

The next day the chairman of Deveronvale called him into his office and he was told that he would never be welcome at Deveronvale again. And that was the day he quit football.
