Not a new thing to discuss, but...
Isn't it time for a new WWE Championship belt already? I mean, we've had this design for over six years now -- that's a longer lifespan than many other titles in professional wrestling. It doesn't fit Cena's character anymore, and with all these reading programs and that shit the WWE likes to participate in -- wouldn't having a title that actually spelled out "Champion" in full be appropriate?
I think post-Money in the Bank would have been a perfect time to introduce a new WWE Title belt (with Punk having the old design). I get that they wanted to go with Punk and Cena holding up matching belts; but couldn't they have had two different belts represent the same ideal for a little bit? Anyway -- call it: Will we see a new WWE Championship within the next calendar year? |

I doubt it. I'm kinda gutted Punk didn't change it when he had the chance, since he specifically said he'd change it and that 'it'd be far too ugly for far too long' or something similar.
The 'Spinner Belt' as we call it, is mostly associated with John Cena. As long as Cena is the #1 guy we're gonna be stuck with it. |

No, we won't see one in the next calendar year. Needless to say I believe we need a change and it should never have become THE belt, but I don't think we'll see one until they combine the World and WWE titles.
Kind of scary to think that this belt only has one more year to eclipse the amount of time the Attitude and Undisputed titles combined were the belt. |

Do I want to see a new WWE title belt? Yes
Do I think it'll happen within the next year? No They had their chance to change the belt design at Summerslam and they didn't. Maybe it'll happen if say, Triple H gets ousted and the new regime decides to completely revamp everything, but I doubt it. |

I voted yes just out of sheer despair for wanting that God awful thing to be gone from the WWE...

My only fear with getting rid of the spinner is that this isn't just a toy, but a prototype for a real belt:

All it would really take is a rectangular front plate with an iPad in it...

If (and it's a pretty huge IF) they were to debut a new WWE Championship belt, perhaps they could take a page out of Rhodes' playbook, and revert to a more "classic" design.

I'd like to see it happen but it probly won't they had an ideal chance when Punk complained about and they did nothing about it besides Cena will likely be champ once WM 28 comes rolling along.

ON TOPIC: Until the little Cenaites stop buying the toy version, WWE has no real motivation to change. |

But couldn't a new belt also be sold to the kiddies? Cena could still even bust out the current belt when he is champion, reminding us that he is responsible for this era. I get the merchandising point; but there are ways around that.
