GTA 4 PC loading screen problem
Once I press start, the loading screen starts and never ends. I went on for half an hour and it didn't stop.
I would really appreciate some help. ![]() |

Try killing your Internet connection and booting Steam in offline mode or at least killing any downloads that are happening.
Same thing happened at launch on the console versions. Rockstar's social club servers couldn't handle the load and they might be overloaded again with the sale, or your downloads are slowing your Internet to a crawl. |

I have "fixed" the problem. Every time I start the game, I go to options and change the graphic options to the lowest settings. By doing so, the loading finishes in a matter of minutes. Now once I am in the game, I can max out all the settings with the exception of AA. I hope that Rockstar release a patch for this issue.

Probably not, it's a 3 year old game.
Probably a GFX driver issue anyway. |

Didn't you get one of those laptops that has shit GFX by default but switches to a decent GFX when needed? If so, I bet it's that. It's not switching early enough. Can you force max power before the game starts?

Yeah. Changing the graphic settings (manually) to the dedicated GPU was the first thing that I did. The game showed that I had only 55 MB of graphic memory.
