Should the red Sox trade(get rid of) Pedro now?
Pedro has apparently broken off talks with the Red Sox on a new contract. He says he wants to test the free agency market... Well that's his right, but going public about it isn't a chemistry builder or fan-inspiring move.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?! |

Their hitting sucks. Pedro's not hot, but he's never hot first few months. Keep him on until they get the bats going before moving him is even a thought.

It would not help the Red Sox pennant hopes at all to trade Pedro right now, because frankly they aren't going to get a pitcher in return who is as good as Pedro. If they could trade him for Halladay, one of the A's three, maybe Pettite, then I would say yeah do it, but they aren't going to get one of them. That, and this is the year that things will happen for Boston if they ever are, a lot of guys on in contract years etc etc, this is not when they need to add young talent, this is when they need to keep distinguished talent.

I'd spooge if they swapped for Zito. It'll never happen, but it'd be awesome.
Unless someone drops the ball, though, they need to keep everything as-is if they plan on repeating last season with a different ending. Let Francona handle things, and hope the bullpen keeps blazing for now. |

I heard the best quote on Pedro breaking off talks.
"My brother would like to announce, he won't be dating Pam Anderson". See, Pedro didn't really break off talks, the Sox typically won't have talks during the season. I wouldn't trade him, hey, if he walks he walks, but lets try and win one while we can. He's a great pitcher, but he's not the same, and unless he changes his style, he's a big injury risk, he's a power pitcher w/o size. |

Isn't like half the Red Sox team in their contract years? So this is their best shot to win right here.
I don't understand why guys get so upset about making the contracts during the season. That is like 99% of the reason Guardado and Hawkins left the Twins last year, is because they wouldn't negotiate during the season. Suckers. |

Don't forget, steinbrenner owns the Yanks, the Sox owners have loan payments. They're close to tapping out what they can get out of the park, the only posibilties left are moving the bullpens and putting seats there or taking over yawkeeway and expanding, but I doubt the clubs would ever give up what they have there. I think you'll see Ortiz and Tec for sure. Pedro, maybe. Lowe probably not, cause his agent is an ass, hopefully Lowe looks at his stats and understands how much better he does in Fenway. |
