DTTS' Official Ask a Poster: James Steele
5 questions for a man with impeccable taste.
1. Who, aside from Triple H, are you really into of late? 2. What do you think of Triple H possibly taking over the WWE when Vince retires? (Bonus question: Will he go by Hunter Hearst Helmsley?) 3. What was your favorite match of 2011? 4. If you could ask your favorite wrestler any question, what would it be? 5. Who on this forum shares the most of your wrestling opinions? It's time to make TPWW MEAT again! Quote:

I just want to say hey and ask a question.
Today it was revealed that Road Dogg was more or less behind the new Brodus Clay. How do you feel about Road Dogg encouraging Brodus to be what he is now rather than a monster heel? Do you think this is a good scenario for Brodus in the long run? -Thanks for the time Taker it Easy |

James Steele, I'm also a big Triple H fan and as sad as it makes me, all good things must come to an end. If Triple H decided to set an official retirement (similar to HBK where he states he would never return to ring action), who would you like the match to be against? Let's say HBK sticks to his retirement too so no bringing him out for one last match.

So, Mr. Steele, IF THAT IS YOUR REAL NAME, I have some questions for you...
Who is your favorite opponent for Triple H? Who is your dream opponent for Triple H? When did you start liking Triple H? |

They both are masters of psychology and they work very well together with Triple H. Honorable mention: If Stone Cold does truly have 1 more match in him I'd love for it to be against Triple H (highly unlikely). They never got the most out of Triple H/Stone Cold but No Way Out 2001's 3 Stages of Hell match is one of my all time favorites even after 10 years. Quote:

Also, somebody ask me why I hate TNA so damn much. I've gotten into arguments with XL, Jabba, and others about this.

Indeed.
Some of my hate for TNA is unjustified. For example, I hate Samoa Joe and I have no clue why other than just looking at his face or listening to him talk makes me change the channel. He is a good wrestler, but he hasn't done anything to leave an impression on my mind and his promos are very forced and he tries too hard to sound like a bad ass. My biggest complaint is that TNA has never been able to get me emotionally invested in their product for longer than a month. My favorite match in TNA ever was James Storm/Chris Harris in a Texas Deathmatch at Sacrifice 2007. The wrestlers actually told a story and it wasn't some outlandish bullshit that makes you roll your eyes and hope nobody catches you watching it and force you to explain it. The match itself actually had great psychology and was actually physical. They fucking sold moves! I started watching TNA when they debuted on FSN and brought in DDP for the first Destination X ppv to feud with Jarrett. I know that they have the most athletically gifted roster in the world, but pro wrestling isn't a fucking track meet. The X-Division guys have always done cool fucking moves, but it is hard for me to give a fuck when nobody sells anything and it just kinda ends when somebody lays down long enough to get a pin. I also can't get emotionally invested in a product when a guy like AJ Styles has been yo-yo'd to the point where I'm frustrated with it. AJ Styles has grown so much as a pro wrestler over years and he should be the face of TNA. Instead, he gets his loyalty rewarded by getting an annual push and annual "turn him into a lackey" angle. AJ Styles went from a glorified trapeze artist into one the best story tellers in the world. He has gotten better on the mic and his matches actually mean something besides showing off whatever moves they saw in Japan or Mexico. The main events of TNA have always been a clusterfuck, but there was a period where the wrestling was great enough that it overshadowed the clusterfuck story and finishes. Then, there were the abortions such as Foley/Sting for the World Title. I watched TNA weekly until the Hogan takeover and they helped kill what interest I had in TNA. The Nasty Boys, High Jeff Hardy, Magic Ring Abyss, Flair/Hogan, Sting/Hogan, and the absolute demise of AJ Styles and others for the sake of Rob Van Dam or an ECW reunion nobody gave a fuck about anymore (not to mention the stupid idea of having blue lighting for the entire fucking PPV). Jeff Hardy's heel turn was interesting, but he showed why he can't be trusted with a main event position despite his drawing power. They build up Kennedy only for them to yo-yo him around. Fourtune was god awful. After Flair turned on Fourtune and joined Immortal and TNA wanted me to treat Cardboard Kazarian like he was something special all of the sudden is about when I checked out. I'll check in on it once in awhile, but it will take a lot to make me bother with it anymore. Angle/Jarrett ran WAY too fucking long, when in doubt give Sting the belt, when people get tired of nWo 2010...turn Hogan babyface for no apparent reason, push generic fuckers like GUNNER and CRIMSON and hope they get over by winning only and not worry about developing a character, do an epic points system for months only for it to not fucking matter, flip a coin to see whether Eric Young will be taken seriously or act retarded, bring up Style/Daniels/Joe from 7 years ago whenever you can't come up with a better reason for them to put on a good match, and when I flip it on the past few weeks I see that they are pushing Eric Bischoff's son?!?!?!!? Sadly, I really would like to give a fuck about Robert Roode and James Storm being given the ball or Bully Ray actually doing something other than cheap heat and working stiff but I can't because I finally ran out of give a damn. WCW had AWESOME matches and hot young workers in 2000-2001 but nobody gave a shit then for a reason (and it wasn't because Triple H was a massive draw). At the end of the day, WWE delivers a product I actually give a shit about and am willing to pay 40-60 bucks for it. TNA has never done that because their product is such that I shouldn't give enough of a shit about it to pay $40 for it every few months. TNA has potentially interesting stuff, but I'm not going to bother because for years on end they showed me that their product isn't worth trying to get that into. |
