Random Question regarding Mr. Kennedy/Anderson

First time poster here. Ive been a reader and supporter for years and finally decided to join the community as an active poster. You guys have all been awesome by the way.

At any rate, I have a question. As I was watching old WWE DVD's on Netflix, I came across some old footage of Mr. Kennedy's WWE stint and began to wonder about what could've been. With that being said, Im interested in your thoughts and opinions. What do you think would have happened IF Mr. Kennedy was actually revealed as Vince McMahon's illegitimate son versus Hornswoggle? Do you think he would've remained on WWE programming longer? Do you think he would still be there now? Do you think he would've impacted the landscape of the WWE in any way?

Any replies are appreciated.

Thanks~

It's possible, but gaining a reputation of an "injury prone botch machine" didn't do him any favors.

Remember, he was the first guy to make the "cashing in my MITB case at next year's WrestleMania" prediction, and THAT could have been a monstrously huge thing. The "Vince's son" idea may have worked, but it might have been dumped quick like Drew Mac's "Vince's chosen one" gimmick.

It likely would have taken something magical to actually place him in a good position. I mean magical like "Austin 3:16" or Punk's "shoot" on Cena (like Punk, he was a Paul Heyman guy), and has the mic skills to get himself over and get stories across. If that "magic moment" never came, he'd just be another guy who was either "pushed too quick" or lost in the shuffle of push/de-depush.

The dropping mic thing was over, especially back then, but, as we can see just by watching TNA (if you dare) it needs an evolution. He was, and for the most part is, a one dimensional, general purpose, tweener "asshole". He would need something "more", and that may or may not have come with time.

Honestly, it's hard saying what would have happened. I mean, this is something that can be trended towards, but not precisely dictated. Serously, who actually believed that, when they debuted that Chrisian, Danielson, and The Miz, and CM Punk would all go on to become World Champions in WWE?

Remember all the rumours at the time that he was due a monster push etc. till he pissed hot and kept talking about steroids to the media. Like Tommy Gunn said,he had the MITB so there was clearly plans to put the belt on him, think he could have been huge if he'd stayed in the WWE,especially with the McMahon angle and everything behind him.

I once again say this: I don't think the plan was ever to have Mr. Kennedy cash-in Money in the Bank at WrestleMania. Since he was a heel at the time, I always felt that it was his style to say that, then cash in whenever the fuck he wanted and reveal he was just messing with us.

Yes, Mr. Kennedy could have been huge; but then again, so could Nick Dinsmore at one point. I was a huge supporter of the guy when he was around, and I felt that he was released far too quickly after his last return to the company. He was proving pretty quickly that you couldn't "depend" on him, but he was certainly a solid hand and could have easily become one of the WWE's most memorable mid-carders of all-time.

But yes, I feel that Kennedy ended up being all potential. To this day even, sadly. I kind of wish TNA would discover whatever that magic ingredient is that Ken Anderson needs to get to that next level, but I wouldn't trust them with shit.

He could have been a great WWE Champion but they gave him a monster push with MITB and he blew it and got himself injured and just when he was on the verge of making a comeback he botched on Orton and was buried.

It's a shame things turned out the way they did. The guy had talent. Great look, mic skills and in-ring ability. I remember reading a lot of reports back in the day that WWE were really high on him and loved his attitude backstage, because he was always picking peoples brains and trying to improve himself.

I loved Kennedy around the time that I thought Smackdown was awesome and Raw was shit from about late 2005 to early 2007. What killed Kennedy for me was his sudden draft to Raw. He was so over on Smackdown and suddenly get switched to Raw which just ruined him as he got lost amongst the other star power and nobody gave a crap about him as they were just forcing him on us by that point. He turned into an awful face too. This is his one moment on Raw which I went crazy for; a clean win over Shawn Michaels. Although unfortunately not even that could do much for him.

Featuring that first blood match with maybe the greatest chair shot of all time.

Around the time, MVP was also feuding with Kane. Both of those guys were being groomed so well and it all got fucked up.

MVP went exactly the same way. Raw ruined the both of them. Those Taker vs Kennedy and Kane vs MVP feuds were brilliant. God I miss Smackdown in 2006. Fantastic matches with plenty of time, lots of care and attention given to building new talents, JBL on commentary, etc. Call me a sad twat but one of the highlights of my week was finishing an exhausting week of school, cracking open a few beers, ordering in a curry and watching Smackdown. Heaven. These days it's barely worth reading the results.

Gotta agree with Tazz Dan, and others.

He seemed to be on the cusp of being one of the biggest names in the business at the time. Look at his win record... it reads like something of a "who's who" at the time.

Damn shame.

He had the fans in the palm of his hand at one point, all it would have taken for him to become huge would have been consistency. The constant stalling was what killed off his heat and momentum, and with more constant experience he might not even have caused and taken those injuries. I think it all affected his attitude as well. Honestly a Kennedy vs Sheamus or Kennedy vs CM Punk feud on a World Title level would have been awesome for the collisions of attitudes involved.
