I really don't think Ziggler and Rhodes are Main Event Material
I just don't see Ziggler being able to get over without Vickie or be a draw. I think his push would have happened by now. Same with Rhodes. I think they've reached their ceiling.

Ziggler is the goods it's that lisping goofball Swagger that takes away his real world credibility. Cody Rhodes I agree, he is a IC champ caliber rassler not a main eventer. But enough about rasslers who aren't Ryback.

I love Swagger, but yeah, not main event material either. Ziggler is basically Billy Gunn.

I want to think Dolph is main event material, but he needs to ditch Vickie for a while to see if he can get over on his own. He can be a bump machine for guys, but doing that can make him midcard for life if he doesn't do something quickly.

Ziggler will definitely be a main eventer. They just have to give him some solid wins over established main eventers on PPV. If he feuded with Cena or Orton and was actually not made to be look like a bitch, it would help his credibility. He'll rise once a lane opens up.
As for Rhodes...I love Rhodes. But I dunno. |

I love Rhodes too, and I'm a big fan of Ziggler, but I just don't see it.

feels to me like Rhodes is going to get "the next shot" whenever that is, they're clearly very high on him. MITB maybe. Ziggler I don't know. Maybe they just have him "circling" because they don't where to go with him/there isn't a profile spot open for him atm but the guy carries himself, looks like and has all the talent of a bona-fide star. If he can find that "something" that connects him with the audience, he's got a chance. He's lost a bit of momentum though, looked great around the Royal Rumble and they could have started building something for him right then but they didn't pull the trigger for one reason or another. His name is still kind of awful.

Remember when Ziggler looked like Randy Orton's little brother for like two weeks?
I feel Ziggler's breakout will be after Vickie accidentally costs him a few matches and he ditches her. He'll realize he can be successful on his own, and he will start to love kids, and he'll become bland as fuck, and life will be good. |

The WWE are taking their time with Ziggler. He is doing an amazing job by making other talents look good. He will eventually make it to the top and get a World title reign which will last longer than the length of an average WWE show.

I do wonder how they will both get to that level too...
Ziggler is my favourite at the moment though, and I haven't really had a stand out favourite since HBK retired. I think his way through is that he sells so well, he makes everyone look great and that, along with having great matches means that he would be a perfect heel champ for a babyface to chase. Rhodes is a more difficult one to call, I can't see his place or in what situation he would be comfortable in at the top. It pains me to say cause I think he is great, but he might be cursed to stay at that upper teir level that puts over main eventers rather than becoming on himself... |

I was really confused why Ziggler was immediately thown WAY down the ladder after his Rumble match with Punk. IMO, Mania's undercard could have been stapled better with Orton vs. Ziggler and Ryder vs. Kane. Instead, I remember Orton pretty much steamrolling through Ziggler on RAW for a few weeks before being sent to take part in a 16 man storyline. Confusing.

Ziggler's one of the few guys everyone seems to wanna see in the main event that I actually agree with.
Rhodes, not so much. |

You never really know how it could happen, though. Bryan was losing to...well, pretty much everyone on Smackdown before he won Money in the Bank. Even AFTER he won it, he was losing to everyone...then all of a sudden, boom. Ziggler and Rhodes have both been at least more protected than that, so I don't think there's any reason to completely write them off just yet. There just has to be that one small opening, then they should be good.

No, he was pretty bad. He was mostly in tag teams and would usually come in for the hot tag but would he would get tired within minutes. He's one of the few guys that Chris Benoit couldn't get a good match out of.. |

Billy Gunn was good. I didn't like it when he was pretending to have caught the gay with chuck but whatever its just a gimmick. He's not like that in real life.

If I'm not mistaken, tonight Ziggler did a little "Val Venis pelvic move" when he came out. His character is all over the place.

I also disagree. Their talent is fine, their characters are likeable, and their music's cool. It's not their fault, it is stupid fuckhead piece of shit writers who wanna do the same damn thing over again and make the fans look stupid by putting in contradictary plotholes.

On one hand, I don't want Vickie Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler to break up, because "if it ain't broke..." On the other hand, it would be pretty memorable if Ziggler dumped Vickie. He'd possibly be the hottest act that week. Is there an opening for a babyface Ziggler, though? Maybe with a heel Bryan as WWE Champion? Or maybe Jericho could really put Ziggler over before he goes?
But yeah, I think Ziggler's got all the potential in the world. About as much as anyone else on the roster, anyway. The same goes for Cody Rhodes. I want to see Ziggler pushed quicker, but I think that Rhodes will get his time and will capitalise on it when the time is right. Rhodes should be the next United States Champion, and could be ready for a World Title match at WrestleMania next year (not the headliner, mind you). He's better at playing a character than Ziggler, but I still enjoy Ziggler a bit more. |

Actually, if the WWE thought pretty quickly, a babyface Ziggler going over a heel Swagger and then feuding with a heel Big Show could be pretty epic -- The Show Off vs. The Big Show. Imagine Ziggler bumping for Show. Considering how well Ziggler works with larger opponents, as well, I think that Ziggler could possibly get one of Show's better performances out of him. Also, imagine the momentum Show could have for the feud if he puts Cena on the shelf at No Way Out, and then goes into battle against Ziggler.

I think Rhodes will make it. I was surprised that he carried on feuding with Big Show after Mania. I figured that was just his way of losing the IC title and he'd then move on and be pushed to the world title picture for the Summer. I see now that he's taking a break though, so I'm sure it'll begin once he's back.

Ziggler is kind-of the man. Not only is he a bump machine, he can cut a promo that would cut most workers to shreds. He's essentially the HBK character from 1997 in the PG era. They're not ready to run with him yet, but when they are he'll be the breakout star of that year.

Ziggler has been pushed out of the main event scenario because Vince thinks that he cannot draw. The Rhodes angle is one of the better storylines in pro-wrestling at the moment.

Ziggler shooting on Triple H and Randy Orton a few months ago didn't exactly do him favors either. Personally, I think that's the real reason.

I've never bought Ziggler as a main eventer. He can cut good promos as a heel, but its still the run of the mill arrogant heel persona. Nothing about it stands out as special. As face he's completely bland.
Copy and paste that and apply it to Cody. In time, they could be top guys. The potential is there. But they'll have to develop into more than generic archetypes for me to give a fuck. |

they may not be WWE Champion material but definately both guys are at this stage of their career where they could both be given a go as WHC. Granted Dolph has had the title already but that got cut short with the concussion so really he's still in untested waters as a Champion.
