Music Discussion #8 - Elton John
I am writing this installment of Music Discussion, and who did I choose? No, Not U2...but a man who was born in England by the name of Reginald Dwight, and later took the stage name of Elton John, an homage to a former band mate named Elton Dean and Long John Baldry. He went on to have a successful 40 year career thus far and 30 albums to date. He, along with lyricist Bernie Taupin, have written many hits over the years. It is safe to say that he is one of the most well known, accomplished and talented musicians of recent times, even helping to put together the Lion King musical. Below are some of his songs, and it was tough to choose just a few as there are so many good songs of his, IMO.

I really fail to see how anyone could objectively have anything bad to say about Elton. He's always been incredibly unique and diverse in both his singing and stage presence.

Fan of the Yellow brick road album but never really got into anything else of his aside from the odd track.

This breaks the rules, I was meant to choose the next person. Although I probably would have never gotten around to it, so it might be just as well.
I do quite like Elton. Responsible for some absolutely classic songs. |

I like the guy. Not familiar with a lot of his songs, but those I know are quality.

'I guess that's why they call it the blues' is one of my favourite songs of all time. I'm not posting the video though because this thread is already loading slow enough as it is.

I like Elton John's music a lot. Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding is probably one of the best openings to an album ever. After Zoo Station.

I like a few of his songs, but have never delved too deep into his catalogue. I appreciate the fact that he is such a unique artist though, and is an incredibly accomplished musician.
