Backyard Wrestling with Your Friends...
Whats the dumbest thing you have done while wrestling in your backyard against your friends? I used to wrestle all the time with my friends on my trampoline but I never do that any more.
The dumbest thing I've done was have a hardcore ladder match for the vacant Extreme Trampoline Wrestling Hardcore Championship. It was actually a pretty cool match that I used to have on tape but I can no longer find it. Anyways, my firend and I just sketched what we were going to do before we had our match. It had spots such as a rolling thunder onto the ladder, chokeslam off the ladder, suplex onto the ladder but when it was time to do the finish I wasn't satisfied with it. I needed to do something that would make it a classic in our terms, lol. So instead of going to the finish I slammed my friend onto the ladder. Climbed up to the top of my fence and did a Swanton Bomb. Although, my friend was not going to have me come down on him, so he moved and I went splat back first on the ladder. It hurt like a bitch but my friends all popped huge for it. Then we went to the finish and I actually won the match. |

I jumped off of things, did gymnastics and different flashy Martial Art techniques, weapons... then I thought it would be fun to see me have my ass kicked. So I was driving around with my friend and we found a thick, plastic hub cap. My mother shot a few video's of him hitting me with it, and eventually throwing me on to it. (Yes, my mother) Well I let him choke slam me on to it twice, and then finish with a few modified power bombs. Kinda like a razors edge. So the last one we did he picked me up and when I went down my elbow went through the hub cap and tore a pretty decent chunk out of my arm. It only took 5 stitches to stitch up but that was the first time I ever had stitches or anything like that. I think the whole thing was influenced by Jackass much more than Wrestling, but hey maybe I can sue them both. What do you think? |

Iv done never done that hardcore backyord wrestling shit persee i did a little backyard wrestling i supose you could call it because we worked out of a friends backyard but we had a proper ring and were all trained. We never did any hardcore crap until we had made enough money to have a dotor on hand at all times and in the 3 years we have run our federation we have had 2 hardcore matches 3 ladder matches and 5 submission matches apart from that we have just gone for straight up wrestling and we get big crowds so i just dont see the point in ths "hardcore" crap.
But i must confess i have taken a couple of big bumps in the 2 ladder matches i have done but both times we had a stunt co ordinator on hand to supervise and give instructions. I once did a swanton bomb of a ladder i have also done the move where you and your opponent are on the top of the ladder and you flip over your opponent and powerbomb them on the way down and i have taken a powerbomb off of a ladder that is one thing i will never do again because i just about broke my neck even with all the support staff we had its just to big of a risk. Iv also done things like a frogsplash onto a ladder and rolling thunder and stuff but to be honest for the damage it does to your body its just not worth it. I figure iv probably got one good big time match in me and that will be my third ladder match coming up next month after that i am retiring and just working as a promoter but i have to say for the few bumps i took in those matches if i had not taken them i could probably have gone for quite a few more years but as it is i want to be able to walk when i get to 50 not be a guy like jeff hardy who if he lives to 50 will be lucky. |

At the time I was like "Oh I'm the f*ckin' man. I get to go get stitches. Oohhhh look at me I can take a beaten'." Now I just look back and think "What a f*ckin' waste of time and money." It was actually fun stacking up carboard boxes, putting gymnastics mats over them, and jumping off the roof on to them though. That's how they do a lot of falls when they film movies. If anyone ever saw "The Sandlot" where the boys jumped off of the tree house and that little red headed kid took the fall off the ladder.. that's how they did that. I have my mind on other things now... and I don't think there's anything wrong with suplexing your best friend on a trampoline or somethin' like that. But unless you plan on wrestling forever... I don't think it's a good idea to play with ladders and chairs. Even if you do plan on making a living wrestling, if I were you I'd spend my time working a few jobs.. then save up for a good Wrestling school. |

Me and my mate used to chain wrestle in the backyard to practice the stuff we'd leard at wrestling school that week. One time we were practicing in front of a pub and everyone came outside to watch. They maked out like bitches when he hit me with a buzzsaw kick, they thought I was totally out. Much fun.
That was good fun really. We spent a whole summer fighting over a plastic championship belt, any time we ran into each other we'd have a stupidly OOT wrestling match and the winner would let it with the belt. We had a couple of 'hardcore' matches but they were total piss takes with lots of fake blood and overselling. The Vandaminator with a bottle of Evian instead of a chair was my fav. |

There was this backyard wrestling program on here in britain a few months back, and i actually sent an email of complaint against my sheer anger about the program, backyard wrestlers have no respect for the buisness, if you want to wrestle, then learn how to do it properly. |

My two friends were wrestling on the trampoline. Nick and John.
Nick = 5' 4" 148 lbs. John = 5' 9" 152 lbs. After about two low blows, a Diamond Cutter, and a FameAsser, Nick got John down. Kick went for a standing shooting star, slipped, didn't get too high in the air (High enough) and went around twice, BARELY making it. That was the single greatest thing I've seen in my life. But he pretty much came close to breaking his neck...the second flip, he had to push himself to go the full flip.. |

Ahhh... reminiscing about backyard wrestling with my friends. We never did anything dangerous like implement ladders or chairs or anything of real danger. We used cardboard boxes. It was kind of funny because at one point in the match a computer box would be referred to as a "steel chair," and then later on would be referred to as a "flaming table." The biggest "spot" we ever did was a jack knife powerbomb through a box, which I advertantly turned into a hurricanrana. Almost broke my friend's neck. Never wrestled again.

Yep i agree completely i have nothing against guys who get training and work out of their yards with a proper ring that shows enterprise but dont mess yourselves up just for a few cheers in what is realy a very big risk.

My parents stopped me doing that after we took out a light fitting and an ironing board...and they found the tape of it in their camera. Busted.

What makes wrestling in your backyard so horribly ignorant to the wrestling business?
Where do you think professional wrestling started? Professional wrestling started in backyards and in the freaking circus and then expanded to arena's and stadiums. |

Backyard wrestling, in the way that you described taking part in, is stupidity. If you wanna wrestle, do it safely, under professional guise, learn to take bumps, learn how to treat an opponent safely, learn how to do moves correctly, or take part in amatuer wrestling, you can learn basics, which can be transfered into learning how to wrestle properly. What you said you did is completely stupid, and quite frankly if you go and paralyse a friend, or do something really bad to yourself, you'll deserve it. Wrestling is something that requires a certain amount of skill, have you ever actually learnt how to take bumps? And please, don't turn around and say "yeah I know what to do, I've seen it on TV" Bullsh>it. Eric Kulas said that, and he got butchered. Backyard Wrestling is ignorant of the wrestling business, because the people who take part in it suddenly believe they are as good as people who work there asses off for years just to make enough money to feed the kids, backyard wrestlers throw themselves around taking bumps that are quite frankly scary. I have seen some backyard wrestling which is truly disgraceful, as it takes no art other than butchering your best friend. This is disgusting. Professional wrestling began by branching off from amatuer wrestling. Wrestling itself has evolved from fighting, not Backyard wrestling. Its about proving you are the better man, and then it evolved. You clearly have no idea, and while I do not wish pain on you, I hope something in the future makes sure you realise how fu>cking stupid you are. |

I don't do that crap, if my mates and I want to act out some moves we'd get some padding laid down and body slam each other or something, we're not stupid enough to jump of ladders etc. remember, those professional wrestlers GET PAID to do those moves.. we don't
