Idea: Good or Bad?

WARNING: This post contains concepts based off of John Cena turning heel.

The WWE needs something big to happen to shake it up. They've gone to 3 hour Raws, they've brought back The Rock, dished out 5 million dollars to Brock Lesnar, and much more. The old stars returning does help the product out. They will definitely help sell PPV's. In the meantime though, Raw (Can't speak for SmackDown, don't watch it much) is left only to this handful of guys that are doing their absolute best to haul the company around.

John Cena has been suffering a lot of abuse lately. He's also worth a lot of money to the company. Daniel Bryan and CM Punk are stepping up in a big way, Kane and Big Show are supporting the card just beneath that, then you have Sheamus and Del Rio being Sheamus and Del Rio at each other. This is a very small sandbox.

Dolph Ziggler is teasing at the main event. They have him, and other young talent that may prove themselves and become big stars. Then they have drive-by main eventers like The Miz. It seems like whenever they give people opportunities, they are fed through a factory that earns them some main events, and either the WWE, or WH Championship; then, they lose to a babyface and bump their head a thousand times on the way down the job well.

CM Punk's face run lasted a while, but with both him and Cena face, there weren't even any matches to book... Now they turn Punk heel, and he gets heat by beating up Jerry Lawler because there are no other people to feud with on anything more than a transient basis. They have to pull out another big main event. Punk being heel is a solid decision at this point, in my opinion, but it's still just John Cena running around in the big babyface headliner department. Sheamus, whatever, fella.

If you were to have Punk and Cena wrestle a nice, heated feud, something more personal than the matches they had before, I think the opportunity could present itself to turn John Cena and let some guys step up as babyfaces in the company. You keep CM Punk as a heel, with John Cena eventually buying into Punk's preaching about respect. He's one of the biggest WWE stars in history, he says his prayers, and takes his vitamins.

"As far as I'm concerned, all this crap in the ring represents all these fans out here. For two years, brother, for two years, I held my head high. I did everything for the charities. I did everything for the kids, and the receotion I got when I came out here... You fans can stick it, brother."

CM Punk and John Cena "wreak havoc" on the WWE. They are brutal terrorists. They demand respect. They are tired of The Rock coming and getting Wrestlemania main events and title shots. They work their asses off for these unappreciative fans, and all they do is cheer relics of the past. If you want to really go crazy, which I know they don't, turn Orton with them.

They beat the shit out of a bunch of "attitude era" vets like Kane, Undertaker. They could have run-ins with Lesnar, Triple H. They can destroy The Rock, who should at that point, probably finally lay down. There's plenty of wheels to keep this thing going while they outfit some babyfaces in jumpsuits. But for fuck's sake, try something new. If you're going to go balls deep on having a "face of the company," and even refer to them as such on television, don't job them out and do absolutely nothing with it.

Bring back Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, and whoever else you can talk into a ring. Give Kurt Angle a call. You guys are doing all of this stuff anyway, giving them cameos, may as well make more use of them. Ask the healthy ones to bump a bit to a beat-up. Get stomped on for a while and put in some submission holds.

Even if you decide to turn one of them face in the future, they have a lot of steam behind them.

I guess a bonus question is, which of these guys would you suit up as a babyface and push in this scenario?

On paper it sounds good.

Somewhat of a "two-man powertrip" against "attitude era" guys, and veterans altogether.

I like it.

It's just not gonna happen, that's all.

Love this idea but yeah it won't happen... Anyway though for the sake of the thread lets say it did. I'd definitely keep Sheamus face and continue his push. Something like this would let him finally begin to step up and be a real contender for one of the top baby faces. I'd also consider turning Miz, the guy has the potential and drive to be big and honestly I think he'd be a better face than he is heel. Also keep with Ryback and push him to the main event and BAM you've got 3 top babyfaces to feud with Cena and Punk.

I'd probably go for making Sheamus the TOP face of those three though. You can say what you want but the guy has gotten over big time with the Cena demographic and he's got "the look". Make Ryback you're edgier, secondary face kinda like Orton is now, and Miz can take on the teeter totter main event spot as the underdog face.

good idea in concept..but if you were to have cena say anything about all the work he does for charities in a negative tone, then it instantly becomes a pr disaster and a bad bad bad idea

The Miz would make for a nice opponent here. He can talk about how he EARNED his respect, and not by demanding it...basically the same promo he cut that one time.

When John Cena turns, it will eventually be a huge moment. I just don't think that moment is now. I think it could have been, but they decided to turn Punk instead -- which makes perfect sense -- CM Punk is such a great heel.

I felt that having Cena cash in Money in the Bank successfully on Punk, and tease a heel turn by simply showing human ambition and a sneaky side, could have led to an amazing story told between Punk and Cena, with Punk pointing out that Cena acts like a white knight, but is actually dark on the inside, with Cena playing dumb to the whole thing. But I like what the WWE has done better.

The time to turn Cena is not now.

You can't see me, the time is (not) now?

I just think the WWE is literally stalling with Punk and Cena in between Rock and Brock matches. God bless them, they're trying. The draw last night was a good way to stall, but... Is CM Punk just going to keep talking about respect? Is he gonna just keep wrestling Cena? Hopefully we have something planned that will be a pretty "big deal"

Maybe Creative will make Cena and Punk reluctant tag partners after Punk loses the title to someone other than Cena (maybe Ziggler?). Punk and Heyman somehow brainwash Cena into being a baddy, but Cena doesn't show overt heel-ness until he cheats in his rematch against The Rock!

I like it. Cena, Punk, and Orton running the show. It would be the nWo in reverse. Instead of wanting to take the spotlight from younger talent, they're fighting to show the urrent roster is more legit than the attitude era. The only thing is that when the nWo came out they had legit babyfaces to standup for WCW. Sting, Flair, Savage, etc. When cena punk and Orton take over and start beating up the rock lesnar and other attitude people, eventually somone from the current roster would have to stop them, and there's just no one there to do it. Unless Ziggler turns and steps up his game, or sheamus steps up.

If this were to happen, the time is not now. Let Bryan and sheamus and ziggler grow, and wait till ryback gets enough steam to produce the emotion Goldberg got when he took the belt from Hogan before we go crazy.

Does anyone think the WWE should grow some balls and try to turn The Rock heel? Hollywood asshole Rock v2 could get both Punk and Cena over more.

I suppose with the whole Cena heel turn at least another year away, probably another two years, a Rock heel turn could be fruitful if they want Cena to win cleanly at Wrestlemania 29. I believe the difficult part from a booking perspective would be to finish Rock's feud with Punk without turning CM face again before Wrestlemania 29. My best guess at doing that would be for Rock and Punk to partner up under Heyman before their feud intensifies to what would amount to a "blood feud" in the Attitude Era.

I still love the thought of Hollywood Asshole Rock coming back and putting over random guys in backstage segments lol

I would love to see Hollywood Rock come back and be a chicken shit with everyone, would probably equal epic programming.

Yeah you're right. It's an awful idea. Nothing good would come of it. Not for ten years. In ten years, it will be a really good idea to turn John Cena heel.
