I get that many kids are so into Cena that their parents take them to shows so they can see him, and him not being there will probably bum those kids out and they may not want to go to the show anymore and parents will probably want a refund.
But I wonder what it does for the other superstars' morale when WWE offers refunds because one guy won't be there (although that "one guy" is the face of the company, of course). |

Does that mean they get their money back and stay? Or get their money back and leave? I think I'd pay more to make sure Cena wasn't involved.

don't see the problem, Cena is the undoubted "star attraction" and some people may be there just to see him. Not the first time they've done it. And I'd be surprised if they had many takers. They're just covering their own ass.

I think the problem is that this situation exists at all. And that seemed to be the point of the thread, so....

why would that be a problem? It's hardly a "situation", there are simply a lot of whiny people in the world and I wouldn't put it past some of them to start kicking off about John Cena not being on a show and talking about refunds if WWE didn't say anything about it. But they did so nobody can complain.

That's an excellent question, Droford. The problem here, as my father, The Rock, was kind enough to point out, is that John Cena has fans who are thirty year-old virgins. These guys aren't as easy to fool. They're finely attuned to the facial features of John Cena as well, spending countless hours a day looking at his face, in deep thought.

You advertise an attraction. People purchase a ticket to see said attraction. Attraction is unable to compete. People may want a refund. Of course "CARD IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE" so the E doesn't HAVE to do it, its just courtesy. |

They've done it before the last 1-2 times he's been hurt and I think they might of done it as well when Cena first joined the Nexus.

"What if Cena retired?" proposes a longer-term situation. They have built up the product around Cena to the point that they will likely be boned without him. This wasn't a concept that was hard to understand. |

Ryback is there to save the WWE whenever Cena packs it in. Therefore this thread should be moved to the official RYBACK thread.

It really is a bad thing that Cena is the only person of consequence to such an extent that he's the only reason refunds will be made available (which is pretty much true). On the other hand, this isn't exactly new and original problem for WWE. They practically fed the company to Triple H, a man who was out for injury like twice a year. At least they had more of a support structure at that point, but many of them were old and/or injury prone. |

i went to a house show last year that cena was advertised for but was doing some appearance somewhere else. they announced they would give refunds to anyone that wanted one and had to claim them by a certain time in the show.

I remember when I went to the first ever Raw and Smackdown taping in the UK back in 2004, and Cena wasn't there because he'd be "stabbed" by Jesus! The crowd were pretty bummed out (this was when Cena was über over with everyone), but nobody really complained, because the rest of the show was pretty solid.
Fucking kids. :foc: |

Cena was not even close to the face of the company in 2004, just crazy over as you say.
In any case, no big deal; WWE doing its job. |

I'd be willing to bet that several people in attendance pay just to see Cena. I went to RAW a while back, and Cena was billed in the main event against Angle in a First Blood match. Two people actually arrived in their seats 30 minutes before the show ended, just to see him.
So yeah, there are people out there that are fans of the performer rather than the actual show. I don't see a problem with the refund situation at all. |

Seems like Cena's injury has ryBacked WWE into a corner.
