QUESTION - Should the WWE do to Tensai what they did with Daniel Bryan?

QUESTION - Should the WWE do to Tensai what they did with Daniel Bryan?

In terms of getting the crowd to react?

Here's what I'm thinking:

-Have Tensai continue to lose matches.

-Slowly but surely, have Tensai get pissed at the fans and request them to stop calling him 'Albert' as he earned the right to call himself 'Tensai' due to his success in Japan.

-Eventually, put him in a feud with someone where the stipulation is if he looses the match, he can longer call himself 'Tensai'. He loses the match.

-Next night on RAW, fans, via twitter, get to "choose" what his new name is. Fans choose Albert.

From there on out, Albert gets even more crazier with the 'Albert' chants.

Could this work?

I'm thinking no. My reason is because Tensai, Albert, A-Train, whatever you choose to call him, sucks as an in ring performer. He is boring to watch now like he was boring to watch 10 years ago. I truly do not know what WWE was thinking when they decided to bring this sorry excuse for a a performer back. The only reason he was so "big" in Japan is because he can toss the people of that land around like rag dolls. Bottom line Al-Tensai-berttrain needs to dissapear and quickly.

have the fans choose "A-Train" instead, yet the fans still chant "Albert," upsetting him even more..... seems like a decent enough Superstars storyline.....

WWE should lace Tensai with a fitting NXT guy for a team, seeing as that's how Giant Bernard was well known as a "good big man" in Japan.

No, I wouldn't work.

I like Tensai, he's a good, big man, that can work a decent enough match and get the job done. The problem is that basically the people don't care about him. Bottom line. And it isn't a gimmick thing, it isn't a storyline thing. The guy just doesn't have THAT thing about him that makes you care. I knew the moment he re-signed with WWE that it'd lead to nothing. Seriously, the whole thing was so pointless.

I think this would work short term, and could lead to somewhere down the road in a comedy team with Santino.

I think Heyman is the most creative poster alive right now. I would pay money to watch his last few ideas.

Seems less like what they did with DB and more like what they did with MVP. You know, losing his "guaranteed win bonus money", inflatable tunnel, his fog machine and pyro, etc., during his losing streak.

I thought you meant WWE should "fire" him over something menial, then "rehire" him exactly at the end of his non-compete clause and immediately give him the US Championship.

His new name would be Albert Bernard or Bernard Albert. Either one works for me personally.

Yes, put Matt Bloom back into the role of tag specialist. It is definitely where he shines. As a singles performer, Mr. Bloom's highlight was going over Stephanie McMahon, a real honor and privilege considering how egotistical the McMahons tend to be.

I essentially agree with this. As a result, I believe that Tensai works fine in his current role as an upper mid-card heel who puts over main event babyfaces and occasionally wins dominantly against lower-card guys.

Given his history with Paul Heyman, as many have pointed out, I would not be opposed to seeing Tensai becoming an on-air "Heyman Guy." With Paul cutting some promos for him -- like he did with Matt Bloom's "A-Train" character -- Heyman could make people care about as much as it is possible to care for Tensai.

Since I'm also for Ryback becoming a "Heyman Guy" at Hell in a Cell, and making an enemy out of John Cena, I would not be opposed to seeing Tensai & Ryback put together in a "don't say much; kick a lot of ass" heel tag team.

I don't know if it would be worth it to pick up Anderson. Guy is pretty good in the ring, but not at the level he needs it to be to overcome his lack of mic skills, and his mediocre look.

I said this in a Raw thread a few weeks ago and also at some point in the "100,001" Replies thread, but keep the Tensai gimmick and have him team up with Brodus Clay.

Having those two be an unstoppable dominant tag team could be great. Also, you could make them both "Heyman Guys" and have them be "silent but deadly", while Heyman is their mouthpiece. That would be fantastic.

I actually have never seen Anderson work. I don't think signing him would be a "this guy is going to be a World Champion and carry the company some day" signing, but as a heel bruiser for their mid-card, he could add a bit of steak to the sizzle. I'm not sure if he has mic skills or not, but if you have Heyman talk for them, they could be a pretty decent "no-nonsense" tag team.

Of course, you could also just call up someone from NXT for that role, too. Tensai & Big E. Langston?

That would be a great idea. Bad Intentions back together. I think Karl has improved quite a bit on his own since Tensai returned to WWE. His biggest moment this year so far is he became the second foreigner ever to make it to the finals of the G1 Climax this past August (the first one being Rick Rude 20 years ago). I'd say maybe in a year, more or less, I could see the Machine Gun in WWE.

No can't see it working considering with Bryan it was a very gradual process and involved his ego while with Tensai your basis is just his former name. The crowd is just mocking Tensai and doesn't actually care about him like they do with Bryan.

The reason it worked with Bryan was because the crowd played to both sides of his character's ego and the WWE never expected a simple squash at Mania would end up spontaneously create the massive support he started to get shortly afterwards.

Do agree with others that putting him in a tag team will help him out a lot more for the time being.

That bit about Anderson making it to the G1 Climax finals is actually an interesting fact, given that Japanese wrestling promotions still don't push gaijin right to moon over there.

I think someone like Anderson would add a bit of variety to the WWE, too. I'm not sure what his style is actually like, but I imagine it's a "hard-nosed" style. There's a place for that in the mid-card. Also, are we unsure that Anderson doesn't have a personality? There's a place in Japanese wrestling for a foreigner who just kicks ass and acts angry and serious all the time. It doesn't mean that is all Anderson can do.
