I've changed my mind about Ryback...

He should be the WWE Champion from Survivor Series until Extreme Rules next year. He pins both Cena and Punk at Survivor Series, and then on RAW, Mick Foley becomes attached to him as a spokesperson. Foley is the babyface hype machine behind Ryback, and lives vicariously through his destructive ways. Foley also allows Ryback a connection to The Rock. Foley and Rock could very easily make people care about Ryback vs. Rock, with Foley flat-out telling Rocky "You can't beat my Ryback!"

At the Royal Rumble, The Rock bumps his ass for Ryback, and gets in his usual offence. Foley does whatever he can to try and keep the WWE Title on Ryback, and he gets in the ring but eats a Rock Bottom for his troubles. The Rock then turns into a Meat Hook Lariat and gets Shell-Shocked for the loss.

Elimination Chamber is billed by Foley as "an exhibition to the systematic destruction my Ryback is capable of!" Foley also cuts a promo talking about the prestige of the WWE Championship, and how for almost fifty years it has been what every person in this business has aimed for -- but now the Ryback has completely changed that. Now no one wants a WWE Title opportunity, because it means they have to face The Big Hungry.

Five Superstars do step up for the Elimination Chamber, however, and Foley volunteers Ryback to be #1 in the Chamber. Ryback starts off the match with a heel, and the heel does what he can, but ultimately succumbs to Ryback before the five minute interval is up. Another heel enters, and they try, but they also get Shell-Shocked and eliminated from the Chamber. A face enters, and the face manages to give Ryback his first challenge of the match, and Ryback is unable to eliminate them before a third heel enters. The heel and the face try to work together, but they cannot put Ryback down. A final giant heel enters the match, and goes right after the other heel and the face. The giant heel might even pin the face here. Ryback battles back against both heels now, however, and then pins them both to win the Chamber and retain his WWE Title.

Brock Lesnar then returns and gives Ryback an F-5 to close the Chamber PPV, much like he did John Cena on the RAW after Mania. Ryback vs. Lesnar is confirmed for WrestleMania, with Mick Foley and Paul Heyman at ringside, and the WWE Title on the line. Ryback retains there, and we head into Extreme Rules, where the PPV has an unusual ending:

Almost every male member of the active WWE roster comes out and beats the crap out of Ryback during his No DQ Match against whichever heel he is facing. It doesn't really matter who the heel is, but CM Punk would be pretty brilliant. The story is that everyone was so threatened by Ryback, that at the first opportunity they have ganged up on him to try and physically force him out of the WWE. They give Ryback the biggest beat-down anyone has ever seen, and then Punk covers and wins back the WWE Title.

Ryback then takes some time off, as life goes on. Eventually, there is some Battle Royal to decide the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship and everyone is brawling when Ryback enters the arena and proceeds to kick ass without taking any names. Ryback wins the Battle Royal and becomes Punk's #1 Contender, as CM Punk starts to shit himself.

Personally, I think Ryback should win the title at Mania. Have him Murder by Lariat Cena, then get jumped by Lesnar. Punk retains. Punk retains against Cena at TLC, have Ryback go to war with Lesnar. At the Rumble, Ryback wins, and Punk defeats the Rock. something else for elimination chamber. And then it goes down at Mania, where Ryback finally takes what is rightfully his.

I wouldn't put the title on Ryback so soon. Last thing we want is another Great Kali or Jack Swagger type situation where putting the title on him prematurely makes the whole thing essentially meaningless.

Build Ryback in a similar manner to how Kurt Angle was built. Keep giving Ryback some extremely impressive victories, and give him his first world title win around Summerslam 2013.

That's what I'd do anyways.

This is what needs to happen. He has proven himself thus far, but outside of the HIAC match, he hasn't truly been "tested" if you will. He has already beaten a few good names, but he needs those victories that take him to the "next level". Going over Cena (obviously), Punk, Orton, even Alberto Del Rio would be a decent matchup.

Sheamus v Ryback would be sweet too. Those are two hard hitting fellas that would rival Clash of the Titans me thinks.

I was thinking about Ryback the other day, but then I thought about Ryan Reeves the man. He came from the Internet Wrestling Community, and was signed to the WWE despite losing Tough Enough 4. He was part of the WWE prior to the implementation of the Wellness policy, and he ended up being released at one point. He earned his way back into the WWE, and has (presumably) found a way to naturally be the beast that he is. He's had a relationship with the WWE since 2004 (that's almost eight years), and while it's easy to see Ryback as "new" or a "rookie," I'm sure those in a position of power in the WWE know whether or not they can truly trust Ryan Reeves the person.

But what really changed my mind on the Ryback was that the WWE is afraid to make new stars. When they have a chance to make a new main event level talent, they might as well do it. Yes, Ryback could have been built better. But he hasn't, and he's in the position of being in the title hunt now. I hope that Ryback isn't one of those people we talk about "could have been something," because there was never a long-term plan in place for him.

We can still get John Cena facing The Rock again at WrestleMania. We could still push CM Punk as an active main event force. The World Title might actually get more attention if Cena or Punk win the title heading into WrestleMania.

CM Punk also has the potential to be one of the most interesting characters on WWE television without the WWE Title. What does it mean for "The Best in the World" if he no longer has possession of the proof? Does he take his rage out on Paul Heyman? Does he become more aggressive? Does he take a leave of absence from the WWE, completely refreshing his character for when he returns?

Definitely compelling stuff, but I would really like to see Punk-Rock more for the title at this point, if not for the mic work alone. Foley as the mouthpiece is cool, but if he needs a mouthpiece, he isn't totally ready for Primetime yet. I think patience until next spring or summer is the way to go, filling time with a Lesnar feud and maybe Barrett or a heel Orton.

I am still not sold on Ryback, but would not have been too opposed to Ryback winning the title at Mania. If they were smart about it and kept Ryback away from the title picture.

The Survivor Series match would have been perfect. A team match. There is a buffer between him and Punk. Punk would eliminate himself via intentional DQ to "escape Ryback".

After Survivor Series, Ryback still wants Punk, but is sidetracked by the other members of Team Punk, who have taken up beef with him for some reason. In the ensuing months, he would battle them and "take them out". Punk would meanwhile beat Cena and then beat The Rock at Royal Rumble.

Ryback would then win the Rumble and finally get his second shot at Punk on the grandest stage of them all.

I didn't completely change my mind on him either. I was just afraid they were going to hotshot him into a title reign like a Jack Swagger or kinda like Sheamus' first run.

However, I did think about that Heyman interview about how he would change TNA... consisting of taking the older guys and "cut their fucking heads off". He might have more influence on talent direction that we know of at the moment, and Ryback may actually be a "Heyman guy" in the non-kayfabe way. Maybe even Punk suggested Ryan instead of battling around people who are already established (like the endless battle vs Cena, or bringing in Orton to pit him against.)

With time to build the guy up as credible and not just looking the shit, you could buy into him being champion. Hell, even Brock Lesnar got build from time and feuds. Hopefully everything works out for him and he avoids injury. And hopefully he outgrows this "everything being a food metaphor" business.

I have a feeling that WWE has Ryback's first WM moment in mind already by "doing the unthinkable" and hitting the Shellshock on Big Show to win the WHC.

Would be a fun match that goes on fairly early in the show. Ryback kicking out of the WMD to rally back and hit the Shellshock for the belt in a 5 minute match would be good stuff.

I'd map it out similar to Lesnar vs. Show at Survivor Series 2002, as far as match length/pace goes.

Punk’s title needs to stay in tact AT THE LEAST until Dec. 4 so he jumps over Cena with at least 381 days.

That said, I’d love to see him retain until Mania. I mean he TIES Hogan tomorrow night, let him complete the full year to move to #8 single longest WWE Championship (not WHC) reign of all time, and then the following raw, day 372 he passes (R.I.P. ) Macho Man, and then 9 nights later celebrates moving to #6 by passing Cena, but ultimately have him reign for just over 500 days, which would probably put him in the top 5 if not top 3.

Or they could have Ryback win and then have his reign last 345,878,923 days

So he wins it at Survivor Series and loses it @ a Thanksgiving Day house show, thus ending his reign at 4 days, 1 day less than Christian’s shortest World title reign?

P.S. - @ #1-wwf-fan, your words, Sir, not mine.

Why? CM Punk is a smart man, and while he knows how great he is, he also knows that when it's time to make a star, that is where the ultimate worth of his WWE Title reign will come in. Punk could hold the title until this time next year, and it really won't make a difference to the quality of his legacy.

If he still had the title this time next year, it would be a pretty big part of his legacy. That reign would be fucking nuts.

It's all about making moments. If Punk's reign doesn't have any moments, it's not going to matter.

I'd personally love it if Punk made it past WrestleMania next year as the WWE Champion. They could totally have Punk hold the title until SummerSlam next year, or something.
