NFS Most Wanted redux
Played the demo last night. I was surprisingly impressed!!!
I personally have not cared for Criterions versions of NFS. there was too much Burnout in my NFS and it felt like Burnout with the NFS name slapped on it. However, the new Most Wanted is pretty fookin great. The "arcade" controls are back, making it more "fun" (I'll go Forza or GT5 if I wanna sim kk?) and the cops are aggressive as hell!!! Short demo, I spent over an hour on it just muckin about. If anyone has been scared away by Criterions versions (I understand I'm in the minority on that one) give this one a go. It actually feels like Need for Speed! |

Meh. Played it for a while, and it really doesn't compare to the old MW:black edition. Way less customization, controls are really not that refined. This still feels like Burnout only not as tight. Old MW had way better driving, and WAY more customization. And Burnout:Paradise just had WAY better driving.
The lack of customization except for 'winning races and unlocking that specific upgrade for a car' is really lame actually. You unlock EVERYTHING for a car in a matter of a few races and then there's really no point in ever using that car again. Seriously, after doing that three times, I was bored with the game and had no interest in 'finding' more cars. Found a few of the more exotic ones and upgraded them a bit, and the fun of the game just died out. Way repetitive, not enough content, too much focus on being an arcade driving game. They took everything that was fun in the Most Wanted games and smashed it to pieces, replacing it with watered down alternatives in an attempt to streamline something that didn't need streamlining. They were the only racing game of their type with the level of customizing you USED to be able to do. Visually and mechanically at the same time, where-as games like Forza and GT are minimal visuals, mostly all mechanical. |

No, what I meant, in my vaguely aware of consciousness is that the controls from the Burnout series are very different and "tighter" than the classic NFS series. For me, the last good NFS was the last Most Wanted released way back when.
I bought NFS Hot Pursuit when it was released by Criterion, because Hot Pursuit on Playstation was a great game. There wasn't any split-screen play (WTF?) and the controls were CRAP! They loosened the steering, making it feel MORE like NFS, and thereby MOAR FUNZ! I like it. |

I want to play this. Going to have to hide my Black Ops 2 disc first.

Lack of proper POV view is disappointing. Looks good. Follows a lot of cues from Burnout Paradise (of course).

I'm horrible at the game, so I should hope so.
