How low will buyrates go?

So how low will the buyrates be for judgement day? I can't see Taker-Book drawing too well, and the less said about the ridiculous Bradshaw main event the better. This PPV reminds me of last years Vengance, a card where there was not a single match with any potential to be ***** but an abundance of potential duds.

Didn't Vengence have Taker vs Brock last year, or was the year before? If it was last year, that would of draw.

But I'm actually looking forward to the PPV, not overly excited about it, but its a PPV none the less, Cena and Dupree might surpise us and come out a great match, Bradshaw in the main event won't be all that bad, but only because of Eddie, Taker vs. Booker will be ok, I guess.

But then again, if I had to pay for the PPV I wouldn't, but seeing as we get them as a part of our UK cable package, and it's basically free, then I can say whatever.

Vengeance last year was headlined by Brock Lesnar defending the WWE Championship against Kurt Angle and The Big Show on a card that ended up being arguably the best PPV of 2003. None of the 3 times that Taker/Brock headlined and fueded drew for shit.

I think most within the company expect it to go below 200,000

Armageddon did 215K with a terrible card, but more recognizable stars on top.

Backlash last month did 270K with a stacked line-up, and 3 guaranteed good matches.

So I cant see how Judgment Day with fewer main eventers and an equally bad card can do muich better than Armageddon. And I would say it would be impossible for it to come close to Bakclash. So, I think they're looking at 180K-200,000 buys.

Of course, Bradshaw's very tall, and has a deal as an analyst, so the assumption by the WWE will be that Eddie can't draw anymore.

If wwe really arrives at the conclusion that eddie cant draw anymore.. oh blimey.

They cant expect the buyrate to depend on eddie and the latin population, can they?

Totally ridiculous.

Let's not forget that Brian Adams and Bryan Clarke were out of WWE contracts after they failed to put on a five-star match with...Undertaker and Kane.

Now, they're not exactly Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero, but if they fired everyone who put on a bad match against the Undertaker...

I don't think Judgment Day is going to break 100,000 buys to be honest.

This is going to be the lowest buy rate for a WWE PPV ever.

Well, being in L.A., I think its a bad sign that there have been massive ticket giveaways all week by local radio stations. Not that live attendance reflects buy-rates but it' certainly a reflection f the general lack of public interest.

Also, it certainly doesn't help that Judgment Day is being totally overshadowed by the Laker game the day before.

Also, it certainly doesn't help that Judgment Day is being totally overshadowed by the Laker game the day before.
Staples Centre is sold out

They give away tickets to every event, especially the PPVs. Here in Toronto they do it, and I'm sure its done in every city. Hell they were giving away WM tix when it was here. Its just promotion.

Basketball and wrestling audiences are different. It's a proven fact that wrestling will draw when it's good regardless of whether it's head to head with NFL, NBA or freaking WPGA. When it's bad, it suffers all the time.

Overshadowed by the Lakers game my arse. It's the day before for Christ sake.

It is nice to see all the excuses come out now though.

Not an excuse. Just saying that when wrestling is in town there are at least sports radio stations that talk it up and have wrestlers on as studio guests to promote the event. Last time Smackdown was in the city, Rey Misterio spent the entire morning on the Power 106 ( the L.A. area's top radio station, ratings wise)But with the playoffs in full swing and as popular as the Lakers are, the only mention ever made is "Come down to Home Depot right now! The first five listeners get 2 free tickets!!"

We don't have very large attention spans here in La-La Land.

Sorry I didn't mean it to sound like I was talking about you. Just the WWE feeling in general.

Nacho Man has done some stupid things
Benoit-Eddie.... in a pretty short match and a Rhyno run in for the finish. Was a poor match, and the potential it had was severely undermined by a lack of any significant storyline behind the match, so no- it had little potential. WGTT - Kidman/Rey was also a very badly hyped match that was never given a chance to shine on the card, certainly never going to touch *****

The hype was all going into the Gowan-Vince match, so no other match got the air-time needed to build a credible match.

No problem, Rob. Remember, if you do the Wrestlemania trip, you're welcome to crash on the couch. You sweet thin, you.

I don't see it drawing too low with Eddie as the champ. Yeah the card totally sucks, but as Goldbird pointed out, Eddie does have the backing of the Latino community, which may give it the edge it needs to make him look like he can draw. Probably not though, we just gotta pray that the WWE realizes that it's Bradshaw that can't draw for crap..
