Could they successfully move SummerSlam to stadiums like they did with WrestleMania?
SummerSlam is supposed to be the 2nd biggest show of the year. In 1992 they had a show in Wembley Stadium that drew 80,000 people, that feels like a big show.

These shows at the Staples Center haven't been bad, but they draw the same amount of fans as an episode of Raw.

If SummerSlam is supposed to be so big let them go out there in front of a huge stadium crowd.

Plus, they make a ton of money off of WrestleMania, I'm sure they could easily make a ton of money off of SummerSlam if they tried to make it a little bigger.

They should have Summerslam at the OCW red mat. Cena vs Brad Hamilton would be a true classic.

It's somewhat unfair to use the first (and last) major PPV away from American soil as evidence to say that you could draw a stadium crowd year in, year out. They could probably have any PPV over here and draw that crowd (providing it wasn't a UK Only PPV where nothing significant happens).

Er, Rasslemanias 6 and 18 weren't in USA #1 and they were both better that Summerslam 92.

Well there's nothing else to compare it to in WWE PPV. They've only really tried stadiums at WrestleMania. I guess Royal Rumble 1997 comes to mind, that show just had that feel to it because there were 60,000 people watching it.

It would be a few year process. SummerSlam would need to be built up as a huge show, like WrestleMania, and after it is known for being a huge event it could be moved to a stadium.

Wrestlemania draws in people that don't normally watch the product. In the Summer people have other things they would rather be doing or on vacation and it has never been built up as anything close to Wrestlemania in terms of impact/meaning/spectacle. Like Ruien said, it'd have to be a years long process and a lot of work to do anything like Wrestlemania.

Which I think they should start building upon since WrestleMania has taken off the way it has. That's a whole lot of money to be made for the company with two shows a year that big.

Biggest problem I see against Summerslam being in a large stadium is that by late August, the NFL is getting ready to start and baseball is in full swing. Probably going to be hard to find a stadium to host it.

Yes, but the problem is the NFL and MLB > WWE

Wrestlemania's set took like 2 weeks to put up which means nothing else could happen in Met Life Stadium for 2 weeks prior (and who knows how long after). Baring using some place like the Alamo Dome or the Astrodome or some other large stadium that doesn't host NFL/MLB, theres no way they could pull it off.

If they did Summerslam at the new(ish) Wembley Stadium, they could easily sell it out.
Plus from the end of May to the end of August there is very little sport held there, so it's already in "event" mode. Do it WWE. Do it.

Since WWE is intent on holding SummerSlam in LA so that they can get celebrities to attend, they could probably hold it at the Rose Bowl (ship USC on the road for a game or two) or the LA Coliseum (wait, is that place still usable?)

Think the Rumble would fit better than Summerslam if they ever wanted to recreate a Mania-like atmosphere. Its been their #2 ppv in terms of buys and hype for years so it could work out.

Ehhhh I think having a Stadium ppv in January and then late March/Early April is a little much. Late March/Early April and the Middle Of August is nice and spread out. It's too bad Survivor Series isn't as big as it used to be, that'd be pretty good timing.

Pretty sure SummerSlam in the Staples Center has zero to do with that considering the Jazz fiasco was just during a Raw. You seriously have to be the dumbest poster on this site. Reminds me of James Diesel.... where'd he go?
