Smack Down! is better than RAW...(spoilers, I guess))

Smack Down! is better than RAW.

First off, Smack Down! has a champion who is the main focus of the show. Eddie Guerrero is absolute GOLDEN right now and has never looked better. His promos are great and his in-ring work is even better.

JBL... John Bradshaw Layfield has been cutting some amazing promos. His match with Mysterio was 5 times better than anything that I've ever seen from him.

This Guerrero-JBL match at Judgment Day should be pretty darn good. With Guerrero being his better than perfect self in and out of the ring and JBL putting up some great promos and some good matches I can really see this feud leaving a lasting positive impression. I predict it will be the modern day Hart-Diesel feud which was great.

Booker T being a heel and recieving mic time. Finally, Booker T is getting what he deserves. His match against Nunzio & Stamboli made him look like a Champ! Its about time Booker T was given an actual program to work with and he has never been better.

Undertaker & Paul Bearer have been handled very well. Undertaker rising up from the fog and appearing in the ring was a nice touch and it would be cool if that is the manner in which he always entered the ring. Only Mark Calloway could bring back the energy of the old Undertaker while wearing cowboy and biker attire. Its been absolutely great.

Rob Van Dam is the man. He got one of the loudest cheers of the night during his match. RVD will be WWE Champion in 2005. Also, who can beat the tag team of Mysterio & RVD?

The Dudley's have also re-invented themselves and seem to have picked up alot of steam. Their match against RVD & Mysterio could steal the show.

Mordecai. His promos are awesome and he has a really cool look to him. He is supposed to debut this Sunday night and I cannot wait.

John Cena knows how to entertain the crowd and get them to respond to even the slightest and simplistic moves. His match with Rene should impress.

Rico & Haas. Absolutely hilarious!
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Since the lottery draft I have found Smack Down! to be the superior show. RAW just bores me and I'm not too sure why. I'm just sad that the ratings for Smack Down! have dropped significantly. If Smack Down! was only live, it would beat RAW in the ratings.

Also, you should give John Bradshaw Layfield a chance. I have and he's done nothing but impress me. WATCH SMACK DOWN! ...its better than raw.

....NUMBER #1 SMACK DOWN! fan.

I enjoy smackdown more than raw myself..

I'm not sure why, maybe it's that the underdog show needs to be appreciate more or something along those lines. When it comes to Guerrero, yes he is the man, in and out of the ring. JBL's character is absolutely top notch, he's definately a great heel. His in-ring work is a little bland, but it's always a matter of opinion. Many people prefer mat wrestling (including myself), but his smashmouth style is always entertaining and a little refreshing to watch.

RAW has put on better shows recently because of the talent on the show compared to SD. Its hard to compare HBK-Benoit to Eddie-Bubba.

But I dont think SD is as bad as some people say, like I said they just dont have the horses to have the great main events. Check that, they could have some great main events, but they're not pushing the talented ring workers.

I love SD!. Always have, always will. I think its mostly because they have some fantastic talent and they were being used like chumps. Now, they've got something going for them. Personally, I can't wait till the fall-out from JD. With the new guy coming in, JBL maybe the next WWE champ, it will be off the hook.

I agree with CyNick. Now prior to the lottery, Smackdown was far and away the better show. Back when you had Benoit, Eddie, Kurt, Brock, WGTT, Rey, Chavo all as main focuses. Since the draft, it was almost as if what we all thought the purpose of the draft was [to bring drawing power to Smackdown] was the exact opposite of what WWE wanted to do [seemingly break the wrestling edge that Smackdown had over Raw]. Smackdown still has the talent, it's just going to take a bit more work to get them over.

It was simple, HHH ran out of opponents, he picked the best worker (Benoit) on SD and the guy with the biggest future (Edge), and now RAW seems stacked (weith SD lsoing Angle and Lesnar).

In the long run SD will always be the better show to watch, because no matter what is said, HHH cant help but bury everyone around him.

Too true. Honestly, Triple H is probably the smartest worker in the business. Yes, he's squashing his opponents, which isn't good for the company in the long run, BUT he's being smart enough to allow opponents to be built up so he still gets his pay day.

I think (and hope I'm wrong) that's what he's doing with Benoit, and that's why for the most part HBK is working with Chris. He knows that right now, he has no one who can bring in buy rates (thus a high paycheck) so he's letting Chris build momentum before getting his belt back (make no mistakes, that is HHH's belt).

He's killing the company, but he's making himself a hell of a lot of money in the process, and Vince is too blinded with love for Stephanie to stop it.

So he made 3 people look great. I would dispute Shelton but I'm not going to get into why I think he didn't put Shelton over.

He's buried Kane, RVD, Chris Jericho, and Booker T just to name a few. Now before burying each of those workers, he put them over like a million bucks as well.

Tajiri's rub will come to nothing. Beniot's win, will be repaid (trust me) and Shelton rub will go no where for quite some time.

I really enjoy SmackDown!, and the main reason is the crusierweights. They never cease to put on a good show, and of course, lets not forget Mr. Thursday Night, Rob Van ****ing Dam.

But, that being said, RAW owns SmackDown!. Why? Two Words: Randy Orton

Yeah, JBL wasn't too bad tonight. What really bugs me about Smackdown lately are all the blown opportunities.

For example: why are they pushing JBL only over small guys? He hardnly looks like he deserves to be in the main event. However, he could've gotten some major credibilty if he'd destroyed someone his size or larger, like, say, the Big Show. Show was taking time off anyway, so why not have JBL "end his career"? Hell, it would've been a lot more logical than Show attacking Torrie and then murdering Kurt Angle.

I'm a huge SD! fan, but even I have to agree that RAW is looking better right now. SmackDOWN! has lost the focus it had going into Wrestlemania, while RAW has delivered on high quality main events and near-PPV excitement. When's the last time SD! did anything really shocking or markoutish? It's been a while IMO.

I was just about to post an "article" about the state of SD. I'll get to that in a moment, but suffice to say, while there have been some positives, I feel there is so much more the writers can do for the show that they haven't done, and it really does seem like they just don't care about SD, that they're treating it as the bullied younger brother.

Well, although Raw has been good lately, I think that for the last three or four shows, SD! has been gaining momentum. Who knows, maybe after Judgement Day, we could have Smackdown! being at least comparable to Raw.

I don't think SD has ever been better than Raw. Maybe I'm stubborn, but wrestling is a Monday night show. Smackdown just doesn't do anything for me. Yeah, Eddie's a great Champion and the centre of the show, but I'm tired of his promo's cuz they're always the same and he has nobody to fued with. Aside from him and Taker (yes i'm a taker fan) there's nobody else to watch. RVD is gold but they need to do soemthign with him. Cena is alright, but does he need to make everything he says rhyme? Who else, Booker T, I've never been a fan of his. Big Show can be entertaining if he feels like it. Cruiserweights dont' do anything in the wwe. Other than that, what is there?

I just love Smackdown right now! I was all ears when they showed JBL giving Guererro's mother a heart attack. It's got all the class and entertainment factors that the angles featuring Jericho running over HHH's dog and Zack Gowen's mom screaming "Leave him alone" ringside (Which by the way, I was terrified that Brock was going to hurt Gowen's mom and I prayed to GOD that he wouldn't.) And the angle with Booker T going out to the cemetery to get help to beat the Undertaker....SPOOKY!!! Let me tell you...every time I see Percy Pringle on my TV, I throw the channel changer under the couch so nobody can change the channel. [/extremesarchasm]

The only wrestlers I like watching on Smackdown right now are Eddie and Taker. I would say Cena but this rap gimmick is all ready way too old. RVD also needs a heel turn or something and Booker T could be better

Oh and John, I love how you negative repped me, but didn't give a decent argument.

Yes, Triple H is allowed to win matches, that matter that he wins is the issues. Take Booker T. Triple H was down for 10 seconds after connecting with the pedigree, then went for the three count. That makes Booker look extremely weak, especially considering Triple H kicked out of Booker T's finisher almost right after it connected.

Well firstly I'd like to say that it appears that the WWE is trying to make Raw and Smackdown! totally opposite kinds of stroyline from eachother.

Raw is the more 'Realistic' storyline from the late 90's - current while Smacdown is starting to bring back storylines similar to the late 80's and early 90's.

By this I mean the character on Smackdown! are becoming more like the characters of the late 80's early 90's. You got the Undertaker as his old deadman gimmick (and I love it), JOHN CENA who's is kind of like an updated version of the Honky Tonk Man...but people love him, JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD who is like the Million Dollar Man, MARK JINDRAK who looks like he is becoming more like Lex Luger's old gimmick the Narcissist (sp?), RENE DUPREE who is becoming the next 'Model' Rick Martel, and from what I hear Booker T is going to be repackaged as a Papa Shongo type character.

I'm not saying these characters are bad, if fact I like watching pretty much all of them in the ring but overall I still enjoy watching Raw over Smackdown!

This being said I am going to the Smackdown! show on June 1st at the Air Canada Center (10th row from the ring ) and I can't wait to go.

In my opinion, Smackdown is fucking crap. I can't believe they got to a point where I wouldn't want to watch a show where Eddie Guerrero is the world champion.

Smackdown...

only thing I like about it is the focus on the champ, and Booker T as heel. Otherwise, they're lacking. I remember when Smackdown was the absolute show to watch, and RAW SUCKED. In fact, that kinda ticked me off... before I moved, when WWE came to our town, the B-show would always come. Before, it was Smackdown... the last show I saw there? Raw.

Now, it's flipped. The last straw for me on Smackdown was the loss of Chris Benoit.

Yeah I dont think so.

From where we are sitting and where the cameras are usually placed, one of them should be facing up directly. So we plan on bringing a sign but we dont know what we will put on it yet.

Also I will be taking my digital camera so once I get home I can upload the pics right away

Ok I agree that HHH made look Booker T look weak and it was a stupid move on Vince's part NOT TRIPLE H!!!!!!

It pisses me off that mostly everybody here complains about HHH saying he buried this person and the next person and so on. Every time HHH wins a match you people always complain and don't realize that HHH is an established main-eventer who's been busting his ass for the WWE for almost 10 years and deserves to be where he is. I would bet a million dollars that you weren't complaining in 1999-2001 when all the "smarks" loved him. Why cause he's married to Steph everyone thinks less of him and wants him to die? retarded.

And of course he has an ego. EVERY WRESTLER DOES!!!

"Oh he beat RVD with the Pedigree, RVD got burried"

Nailed it on the head. There's some pretty weak talent on Smackdown, and very few people to main event that are worth a damn.

However, what they do have is damn fine. A lot of it's not being used.

We have Jackie as CW champ, and Ultimo Dragon's doing what? Shannon Moore would get more exposure as a shoe-shine boy in Calcutta. Cena's got potential, but he's been stale of late...I'm hoping a little time off or something will help. JBL's gimmick is awesome, but in the end, it's still Bradshaw. Rico and Haas are awesome together, but comedy angles rarely make a show. Eddie is seriously great too, but against JBL, I don't have high hopes for this match.

The following is the dialogue of a WWE meeting concerning the state of Smackdown.

Vince: Ok, everyone. Smackdown's ratings have been going way down, while Raws have been back to fairly steady rates. Any ideas what's going on here?

Undertaker: It's that damn Guerrero. He's a screwup as the champ.

Vince: Hmm....you've got a point there, Mark. What if we have you take him on in a title match. You think you can carry him?

Taker: Well, I might be able to, but there's no saying. I can't be a miracle worker.

*Both begin laughing hysterically*

Heyman: Uh, guys....I think there are more problems with the show than the main event. The writing is....

Vince: Heyman, who let you in here?

Heyman: Vince, I attend all of these meetings. I've been doing so since you hired me.

Vince: I don't remember ever inviting you. You're lucky I don't fire your ass for crashing all of our meetings. Get out!

*Heyman leaves without saying a word almost as if it were an everyday thing...*

Shane: Yo, pops. How this for ratings. Have Big show come back, flipping cars like a madman. THen Stephanie shows up and tries to stop him, but he goes crazy and hits her. THat's when I show up to protect her and he and I have an epic feud for 6 months ending in a "Flip the Ambulance" match. I throw him in the Ambulance and flip it over and they declare me the Australian champion.

*Vince's eyes widen in delight.*
Vince* Shane, that's absolutely brilliant!

Shane: Hey, pops, what can I say? Like father like son!!

Vince: All we need is for Steph to agree to be involved. Steph?

*Stephanie sits on HHH's lap on a chair in the corner of the room filing her nails.*

Vince: Steph? Steph!
SHane: Yo, sis!
Vince: STEPH STEPH STEPH!!!
Undertaker: STEPH!
Vince: Hey Steph!
Shane: Yo, sis, wake up!

*HHH nudges Stephanie. SHe snaps out of her trance*

Steph: Huh? What?

Vince: We need you to be part of Big Show's big return. Are you in?

Steph: Huh? When did Big Show leave? Is he hurt?

Shane: You remember that big episode of Smackdown when Angle got his leg broken and Big Show flipped that car over, right sis?

Steph: Angle broke his leg? How long will he be out? Huh?

*Vince rolls his eyes*
Vince: Are you in or out, Steph?

Stephanie: I guess I'm in. It'll have to wait until I'm done with my nails.

Vince: It'll be taped on Tuesday.

Steph: Huh?

Vince: I can't believe I'm going to hand the company over to her...

Shane: What's that, pop?

Vince: Oh...nothing, Shawn.

Shane: THat's Shane, pop.

Vince: Right. What...did I call you Stone Cold again?

HHH interupts: Hey! YOu wanna know why Smackdown's down in the ratings? It's cause I'm not there!

Vince: You're right. We should have kept you traded when we had the storyline all written up.

*A thought bubble appears over HHH's head. Inside is a picture of a sinking ship.*
HHH: Uh....actually, I'm in the middle of a feud with Shawn. And after that I'm gonna squash that Benjamin kid a few times. And plus, you've got me due up for the World title again in a couple months. Remember?

Vince: Oh yeah. Hey, let's call it a day.

Shane: WHat about Smackdown?

Vince: Is that O'Hare guy around to blame it on?

Shane: No, you fired him.

Vince: Oh yeah. We'll blame it on Dupree then.

Shane: Sounds good.

*ALL leave.*

The end.

I think they should make a huge "trade" or say contracts ran out and there's another free agent frenzy. Maybe send a couple major players to smackdown. However, I think the only way Smackdown will take off is if it's live. That way big stars like the Rock can show up without it being spoiled. Or they could just end the "brand split".

Hmm....Jericho on Smackdown???
