Gaming Rig question...

Would these parts be a decent staring point for a gaming system. I am pretty broke and the one I want to build is like 1600 so thinking of building this to "hold me over" since I can get it all for $500 from a friend... Just wonder if these older parts would work to play at least most recent games.

ASUS Crosshair IV Formula Mobo
AMD Athlon Phenom X4 975 CPU
NVIDIA Geforce 570 GTX (not sure exact specs on this)
16GB Ram
500GB HDD

Should be fine, but I would just save up and do it correctly all at the same time.
