Exclamation Former NFL Linebacker Shawn Merriman signs with the WWE.

The news was announced on the most recent episode of the “John Layfield and Michael Cole” podcast, as they announced that the former Pro Bowler will be “joining the family” and will be working at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla.

Merriman took part in a tryout for WWE back in October, but he was not offered a contract. There is no word on what changed between then and now, but Merriman did make a surprise appearance on the WrestleMania 30 pre-show panel this past Sunday.
