The new series will be titled "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal". It was revealed on April 30 that the series will run for 26 episodes, streaming via Niconico, on the first and third Saturday of each month for a whole year from July 5 onwards. Crunchyroll will also stream the series on their website on July 5, 2014 at 6:00am ET (10:00 UTC). The only returning voice from the original is Sailor Moon herself.

On May 16, 2014, North American manga and anime distributor Viz Media announced that they have acquired the entire Sailor Moon series, as well as the three films and specials for an English-language release in North America. They began streaming the series on Neon Alley and Hulu in the United States on May 19, 2014 and is scheduled to release the first unedited, remastered and bilingual Blu-ray and DVD set, containing 13 episodes in Fall 2014. Similarly sized sets will follow. In addition, Viz has also licensed the Sailor Moon Crystal anime for simulcast streaming for July 2014. Viz aims to release the franchise digitally with English subtitles beginning in Summer 2014, followed by a new English voice dub starting in late 2014. As of June 2014, Viz is only exercising its video streaming rights in the United States; a plan for streaming the series to viewers in Canada has not been announced. It will also be redubbed, since they're not going to fly out the entire Canadian cast to dub the episodes that were not used.
