Smackdown SPOILERS - August 1st

1 - Jack Swagger vs. Cesaro kicks off SmackDown. Swagger wins with the Patriot Lock. Rusev and Lana come out after the match for a promo. Zeb responds and the challenge is accepted. Swagger vs. Rusev is on for SummerSlam.


* Randy Orton comes out and cuts a promo on Roman Reigns. He challenges Reigns to a match at SummerSlam.


* Kane and Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose in a handicap match is announced for later.


2 - R-Truth beat Bo Dallas by disqualification when Bo wouldn't break at the 5 count. Bo beat Truth down after the bell and cut a promo.




3 - AJ Lee squashes Rosa Mendes by submission. Paige attacks AJ at the top of the ramp and lays her out. Officials check on AJ as Paige skips away.


4 - Kane and Seth Rollins beat Dean Ambrose by DQ when Ambrose hit Kane with a steel chair. Rollins runs away as Ambrose hits Kane a few more times.


* We see AJ Lee being taken away on a stretcher with a neck brace on.


5 - Fandango vs. Diego with Summer Rae and Layla is next. Diego gets the win when the Divas distract Fandango.


6 - Dolph Ziggler vs. Alberto Del Rio with The Miz on commentary is next. Miz interrupts the match by standing on the announce table and mocks Ziggler. Ziggler goes after him but Miz gets away. Del Rio takes advantage and hits the cross armbreaker on Ziggler for the win.


7 - Erick Rowan vs. Chris Jericho is the main event. If Jericho wins, Rowan is banned from ringside at SummerSlam. The referee sends Luke Harper to the back and Jericho wins with the Codebreaker.

Yea I can actually see that. The way he snapped and then went back into inspirational mode was awesome. Fits him perfectly and given some time will probably help his character development out a lot. I just hope they aren't already burying him.

Would have been awesome if instead of going typical heel and snapping and attacking R-Truth after he lost to him, Bo just kept the big smile on his face while fighting back tears and acted like a good sport. Meanwhile there would be backstage segments where Bo would be caught crying or pouting alone in a room by himself until one night on Raw R-Truth is backstage looking for Bo to preparation for a tag match and he finds a giant shrine of pictures of R-Truth with the eyes in each picture stabbed out "19-Bo" written across them.

Cesaro is just doing the "we don't have you in our immediate PPV plans, so you're going to make everybody look good for a few weeks" thing. Weird to see Swagger beat him so cleanly though. I'm glad, because face Swagger is working surprisingly well. I hope he wins the Flag Match and then moves into a program with Alberto Del Rio. Two great workers and Swagger can beat him a few times and really try and gain some traction.

Bo Dallas will probably beat R-Truth in a No DQ match to show off his "dark side" against a veteran people love. He'll be fine.

Loving Diego actually getting back-to-back wins against Fandango.

The thing is there is basically no way to pay off the Fandango/Summer & Layla feud. Fandango can't get revenge on them because he can't hit them or have a match with them or anything. They'll either debut someone new from NXT to essentially be Summer/Layla's permanent boytoy, or more likely the storyline will just eventually fizzle out with no explanation.
