When they all came in quick succession like Bulldog, Perfect, Bossman. It was hard coming to wrestling news sites back then. It was a relief when you didn't see a notice of somebody dying.

Super "no-shit" obvious one but the whole Benoit thing and the events surrounding it still fucks with me

Who would have thought snorting massive amounts of cocaine, popping 50 Somas a night and shooting up jars of steroids would contribute to an early death.

Mae Young. She said she'd be in the wwe on her 100th birthday. Lying old hag!

I think the obvious one is Owen Hart just because it happened during the show. The Benoit one was a slow shock depending on how you were getting the news. With Owen, it was all happening while watching a fucking PPV. I remember it all just being really surreal.

Bobby Jaggers dying sent the forums into a depression in whatever year he died. RIP

Eddie was a shock. Guy was close to the top of his game when his past caught up to him. He was also the first "active" guy who had passed away in a while, since Owen from my recollection.
Warrior the day after he was on Raw was a pretty big WTF too. |

When Undertaker buried Paul Bearer in that Concrete Crypt Match at the Great American Bash 2004. What a bastard.

Road Warrior Hawk was a huge shock, he was one of my favorites growing up. Same thing with Macho Man, never thought he would die....

Lol that Benoit death thread is hilarious at times. Just skimmed through it. People accusing Vince of killing them all because Benoit made him alter his plans for a PPV.

Like page 9 I think it was when people started accusing Vince. Didn't have time to read more of it. Probably some more funny posts throughout though.

Eddie's death got me a free drink at a local bar.
So I was at this little bar in 29 Palms. I'm pretty buzzed. When I get buzzed, the slightest thing can sway my emotions. The littlest thing that would normally make me smile would make me elated, while the littlest thing that would normally make me kinda sad would reduce me to a puddle of tears. Now I'm already feeling a little down about something. Might have been my crippling alcoholism, dunno. Well some dick decides it's a good idea to put "Hurt" by Johnny Cash on the juke box. Even sober I was getting emotional when this song played. Hell, I can't listen to that song nowadays without having to take a beat to regain my composure. So I'm sitting at the bar, trying not to cry my fucking eyes out when the bartender sees me. She refills my beer, and says it's on the house. #ThankYouEddie |

Eddie's death was the most shocking one to me. He was just on TV 2 days earlier in a match against Mr. Kennedy on TV and he was his usual hilarious self, seemed so alive. Eddie was always fantastic but his run from his WWE Title win in 2004 right up until his death was pretty much must-watch TV. Just a brilliant performer.
The Benoit death was shocking too of course but right from the get-go it seemed way more suspicious. WWE's press release initially was like "Chris Benoit and his family were found dead" and it was just like WTF. I don't think I got anywhere near as emotional watching his tribute on Raw that night as I did with Eddie's because something just wasn't sitting right and I was looking for answers. When the superstars were giving their testimonials I noticed a few of the guys, Regal especially, clearly knew something just wasn't adding up with how everything went down. |

Eddie's last match was brilliant and hilarious. I loved that gimmick, too bad he didn't get to continue.
