Anyone reading this book? It's getting made into a movie, directed by Steven Spielberg.




I'm 10 chapters into it and love it so far.

It's based in 2045, the world is all fucked in resources and poor people live in "Stacks". Stacked trailers on beams and shit, but there is Virtual Reality and a game VR based is popular for business and gaming pleasures. The guy that helped create the "Oasis"(name of the VR game) and stashed his billions of dollars will as an easter egg within the Oasis.

The protagonist(Wade Watt) is a teen that lives in the stacks and he is known as an egg hunter, using his virtual reality school rig to participate in high school within the Oasis and also to level up his avatar.

Containing a lot of geek shit from the 80s, Atari, D&D, Matthew Broderick, War Games. All that shit. You want that shit, you got it. Straight up, some of you may have already gotten this shit, that's ok.

just go look up Ernest Cline and see how immersed in that decade he is. I watched a doc on Netflix about Atari and in it he was picking up his DeLorean from George R.R. Martin in New Mexico that he was lending out and drove it to the site where supposed E.T. Atari games were buried.

just finished it yesterday, it was great. It's going to be hell getting the licenses/rights to everything that is mentioned in the book, so the movie may suffer terribly.

kicking myself for not reading it sooner, now I need to dive into another one
