RIP to Wes Craven.
I used to walk by the house used for the exterior of A Nightmare on Elm Street on breaks from work at Samuel French, Theatre & Film Bookshop when I was feeling a little devious, as it was just down the street. I loved hearing him do live commentary of NOES in Santa Monica and hearing him point out how Nancy's mom is basically drunk the entire film. A horror icon is now at peace and has left quite a legacy. From The Hills Have Eyes, A Nightmare on Elm Street and SCREAM, he changed the game several times over! |

Was genuinely shocked when I read this earlier, a legend in the field.

Wes created two horror classics in Last House on the LEft and Elm Street. They are good enough I forgive him for Scream and causing mainstream horror in the late 90s to slide even further downhill.
