Holy shit @ tonight's Sopranos
oiausdfoupisadouisfaduiosfdauioasdf
My God, greatest ****ing show on television, ever. It was sending chills down my spine throughout the entire thing. I marked out like 500 times during this one episode. This season has been ****ing incredible. The writing is insanely genius. It's incredible how something can be so good. WOWOOWWO.ADSOISFADSOUF |

Episode was really good, season has been horrible. So many of my friends who were hooked on the Sopranos could care less about it now. Cant say I blame them. 2 good shows out of 12 isn't something to brag about.
As for the writing, I thought it was pedistrian. I mean we all knew, or at least you should have, that Adrianna would get killed once she hooked up with the Feds. I never believed for a second that Chris would double cross the mob, much less Tony. But the epidose was done well in that something worthwhile happened for once. |

Ive been a fan since the beginning, and the show has gone way down hill since their heyday. Season 1, 2 and to a degree 3 were amazing, 4 was boring, and I didn't think it was possible but #5 has been even worse. I think the writing and the producing is still good in the sense that they tell a decent story, but nothing happens anymore. Back in the day, if I missed an episode I felt like I missed a ton of stuff, now I could have missed 3 or 4 episodes this season and I wouldn't be lost at all. They are focusing too much on Tony's various issues, his wanting to bang his mom issues, his love of animal issues, his dreams, they are all a giant bore. What got me hooked on the show in the first place was the concentration on the Mob activities, but for the last two seasons thats been lacking. Instead of getting episodes about whacking a guy who hasn't paid a debt, we get episodes about Tony loving a horse, or a dog, or an old freakin lady. Its just boring, I dont know what else to say. I cant really stop watching now because I know they only have 11 episodes left in the entire series, so I figure I'll stick with it to see how it ends, but if I had starting watching this season or last, I'd never watch more than an episode. I think what would be interesting to me, is to hear why anyone thinks this season has been really good? I mean I've 2 or 3 episodes that were good-great, but aside form that I've been disappointed. So I'd be interested in what parts of this season have been incredible. Maybe I'm missing something. |

Tonight was a hot episode, but as a whole, this season has been kind of a bore.
The season finale should be some good shit, though. |

MAN, my stomach like collapsed when I realized about a minute into the scene where Adriana was in the car with the other guy (what the hell is his name?) that she was finished. I liked her.
Hey, what is the name of the song that played at the end though? I want to d/l it. |

I really don't wanna see Tony B. get whacked.
I hope Johnny Sack gets whacked soon, because he's so creepy. He's like one of those guys you cant look straight in the face without shitting a brick. |

Okay the song was called "Wrapped in Memory" by Shawn Smith if anybody else wanted to know. Man, I am good at finding songs quick.

So you are one of those guys that loves to watch the stuff about "whacking" and shit like that.
I personally love all the psychological stuff. It's amazing to me how subtle the show is. Instead of it just being about brainless shit like killing someone because they owe money, it's psychological stuff that everyone can relate to. I guess I can see why some people don't like that kind of stuff, but it's great to me. I bet you are a big Spider-Man and Lord of the Rings fan. |

Hey no dissing Spidey or LOTR.
But yeah. For the most part this season has been good and a big step up from the crap that was season 4. Last week's episode with the dream I thought was really interesting, BUT it was way too late in the season for that type of an episode. It really didn't do much to advance any story arcs except for Tony. And the dream itself took up the majority of the episode. It seems like since this was originally meant to be the final season, Chase is simply extending the plotlines for a bloodbath with the whole inevitable NY/NJ war in season 6. Maybe if you look at both season 5 and 6 as one long season it will fit better because this season is mainly just setting up for the shit that will go down in season 6. But I've been happy this season mostly and the set-ups have been done well for the most part. Opposed to season 4 which, aside from pretty much the final episodes when Carmela throws Tony out, Ralph dies, and Aidrianna is arrested (that was 4 right?) most of season 4 was pointless. Don't get me wrong, it was still entertaining TV just not in comparison to the previous seasons. The worst episode this season yet has been, as Triple A mentioned, the one about Tony's father's mistress. I mean who really gives a shit? What some people don't realize about this show, and Chase has stated this in interviews, is that this show is about a family, hence the title. It is essential for us to see how Tony deals with his two families (home and the mob). If the show was ONLY mob-driven, not to say a show like that couldn't have cool things, but, would it still be as entertain as this? I mean, now this is just an assumption on my part, a lot of mobsters are like this, to an extent. They have to try and balance both families. The psychological stuff I don't care as much about as I do the "business" side but I still do my best to understand what is happening and I know why it is an essential aspect to the show. A lot of it can be interesting. I thought tonight was damn good. The last episode looks pretty good and season 6 should kick ass too. Even if you think an episode is bad, the worst episode of The Sopranos is still usually better than more than half the other shows on TV. |

Yeah, Chase has said that he loves the fact that he has a show about family disguised as a show about the mafia.

No, I dont like Spiderman, LOTR was good, but I'm not a huge fan of it, I just thought they made three good movies.
See the whole "the show is about a family" thing is BS to me. I mean I'm not disputing thats what Chase set out to do, but in the first 3 seasons when people got hooked it was on the Mob stuff. Every other channel has some lame ass drama dealing with family issues, this one was good because it dealt with something that people are fascinated by but really know nothing about (the Mob). Over the last two seasons they've flipped the script, and now its all about personal issues. Thats kinda like bait and switch to me, and I think thats why the last two seasons have caught a lot of heat. Intentionally they fosuced on the Mob stuff to get people hooked in 1, 2 and 3, so they knew what they were doing. Now they are catching heat for changing the focus of the show. Again, I'd never dispute that they put out good television, but its kinda been like walking into the Godfather and then halfway through they pop in Fried Green Tomatoes or something like that. Even though the second half might be good, its not what people "paid" to see. The other problem, and this was brought up in a previous post is that this season has been a set up for the end. Well, that was the only excuse I could come up for Season 4, because as was said, nothing happened. But nothing's really happened this year either. The war between Tony and Johnny was started at the end of Season 4, and really could have been developed during this season, but they've been in a holding pattern all year (except last night). I just hope after waiting another 18 months (which BTW is rediculous for only 13 episodes) for the next season thats its not another "set up" for Sopranos The Movie. I guess I'm sick of waiting. |

What are you talking about? Plenty of stuff has happened this season.
And, the first three seasons were FILLED with personal shit. The show has always been about personal, psychological stories. I haven't noticed any shift towards just personal stuff. The same exact balance is still there that has been there since season 1. And 18 months is not ridiculous for only 13 episodes. It's not like a regular TV show. The show is shot on film, like each episode is a movie. 18 months is not bad for 13 hour long movies. |

There has been a definate change in direction in terms of what they focus on. The Mob stuff has been pushed to the side, and instead we get all the other stuff, which is less exiciting. |

That's your opinion. I think it's WAY better TV than stupid mob shit that we have seen thousands of times.
And no, there are not other shows on TV that are as good as the Sopranos. |
